Tips for a Healthy Summer

This is definitely the hottest summer I have ever experienced in the UK. It has been a very warm summer. And it doesn’t feel like it is going to be cooling down anytime soon. Is it warm where you are? On some days I like the warmth (when it is not dead hot) and on some days I don’t. I can’t seem to make up my mind on whether this summer is fun or not, thanks to the unbearable heat. To ensure you enjoy the most of what summer has to offer, here are 5 tips for a healthy summer –

Drink plenty of fluids and infuse your water

I have drinking plenty of ice-cold fluids because I won’t be able to go on without doing so. Drinking plenty of fluids is a smart way to stay hydrated. I am always with a water bottle. I can easily get carried away with work and all, and go hours without having a drink. But having water with me at all times reminds me to drink.

Another smart to get yourself to drink more water is to infuse the water with flavour. You can infuse with limes, lemons, oranges, berries, or cucumbers, to make a refreshing taste. It is a great way to drink more water if you are not a fan of drinking water. If I had my way, I would drink soft drinks all day, but thanks to infusing my water, I get to drink more water.

Duralex Picardie Clear Water Tumbler Summer Healthy Image

I recently got these Duralex Oicardie Clear 6 Tumbler Set some weeks ago. And I know it sounds cheesy but I love drinking in them. They are so pretty. This set of six Duralex Picardie Tumblers is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can grab at a set at John Lewis, Selfridges, Ocado, Habitat and other stores for £8.

Apply Sunscreen and wear weather appropriate clothing

The last thing you would need this summer is a sun burn. So ensure you apply your sunscreen regularly. Staying out of the sun when it is dead warm is best. I still see a lot of people having picnics and tanning in this weather and I really don’t get it. Having a picnic when it is dead warm makes no sense. I rather eat indoors thank you.

Wearing weather appropriate clothing also ensures comfort at all times. I recently stocked my wardrobe with hats, sunglasses, shorts and camisoles, and I am enjoying styling them. Minimal clothing is what this weather needs.

Make the most of the sunshine

It is easy to moan and whine about how terribly warm the weather is at the moment. But whenever I remember the Beast of the East, and how horribly cold and long last winter was, I appreciate how much the sun is shinning. Summer is a beautiful season and I plan to make the most of it with the family.

#ThePerfectBeachBody

Its July, summer is here and that means one thing – Holidays. With the holiday season in full swing, many are jetting off to beaches and other luxurious places to relax and unwind, and with some many women walking around looking fit in their bikinis and bodysuits, the pressure is on for every woman to have the Perfect Beach Body this summer. Many are coughing out as much as £300 in preparation for the summer holidays. Can you imagine that?

Surgery-Bikini-Shot-300x232

An online voucher code website – My Voucher Codes recently carried a survey that revealed that 60% of 18 – 24-year-old women felt under pressure to achieve the #PerfectBeachBody. The survey was answered by over a 1000 women aged over 18, and the results were as follows:

  1. The most popular beauty preparation women have for their summer holidays is waxing including eyebrows, legs and bikini area (59%), and manicure and pedicure (54%).
  2. A tummy tuck was the most popular choice for women looking to get their body in shape for summer.
  3. Joining a gym, a diet club and a fitness class were the most popular ways to get fit and healthy for the summer.

Mark Pearson, the founder of My Voucher Codes said:

“It’s amazing how much beauty treatments can cost for holiday prep, add this to the cost of a holiday and people can end up spending a fortune before that go. And that is not taking into account, gym membership, and fad diets or class’s people take to get their beach body. What is shocking though is the surgery women would consider having to get a beach body. There is so much pressure on women to have the perfect body, I can understand why some women resort to such extremes to get it.”

Personally, I don’t quite understand this whole perfect beach body craze. I can’t imagine coughing out anything close to £300 to achieve a perfect beach body, I rather spend that money on some cool accessories and pieces. However, I am more conscious of my legs during summer because I like showing off some skin, so I wax my legs more regularly in the summer months. Walking about in a mini skirt with hairy legs won’t be a pleasant sight, but that is all I do differently in the summer. Then again, I am not your average young woman. I hardly get pressured into doing anything. I make my own rules.

Summer Shoes Wishlist

One thing I love about the summer season is the fact that I can show off my legs and feet if and when I want. There is no need for tights or socks which is a bliss. I tend to show as much skin as I can during summer months. I make hay while the sun still shines, Ha.

I am loving most of the sandals in stores now. There are summery and perfect for the lovely British weather we have been having. I have fallen in love with these shoes in particular, and with the summer sale now on, I might just treat myself a little. I will love to include them all in my shoe collection, if only I had an unlimited budget like Olivia Palermo, if only…..
