Gigi Hadid Covers British Vogue January 2016

Now I must confess, Vogue magazines are one of those magazines I hardly ever buy. I got some issues on my bookshelf but compared to my huge collection of Elle and Glamour magazines, Vogue magazines are quite a few. British Vogue and Vogue in general, is one of those magazines I think is way overrated. I think the bosses at Vogue, want to appeal to a certain class of people, and alienate the rest, unlike other magazine houses, and guess what, it is working. They have succeeded in alienating most of us. I find most articles in Vogue boring, with little or no substance. However, I am loving the latest issue with Gigi Hadid on the cover.

Gigi Hadid looks amazing, dressed so casually, unlike other Vogue cover girls. She looks like the ‘girl next door’, and I can relate to that. I have heard quite a lot about Kendall Jenner’s new BFF, I see her a lot on Instagram and about on social media in general, but I know little about her. Apart from the fact that she is best friends with some of the most famous young women in the world, and I think she now models, I spotted her on the Victoria’s Secret show debut last month, but apart from that, I know nothing else about this young woman, and I am curious, so I may be buying this issue.

I find her quite interesting, and I am so loving the relaxed look of the cover. It is like a breath of fresh air, compared to the other cover girls, dressed to the nines.

I am also interested in reading more about the other articles listed on the cover, especially, ‘Your Style Forecast for 2016’, and ‘Seven Ways to a Waist’, they sound quite interesting.

I will probably get someone to get a copy for me, lol..I struggle to part with my cash for magazines sometimes, especially when they are over a pound.

Do you struggle to? Drop me a comment, let’s chat.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely Friday.

  1. I used to buy magazines when I was younger, but hardly buy them now, as I think they are just too expensive. I have never brought Vogue though as to me it was never aimed at normal everyday people x

  2. Gigi is very girl next door and like you I am not a fan of Vogue, I think it excludes socio-economic backgrounds that do not adhere to a certain image. In fact you have just given me a blog post idea thank you x

  3. The older I get the less mags I buy. They are always just full of adverts which annoys me! Most libraries offer free eMagazines of some of the major glossys for free so I’ll just stick to them!

  4. I subscribe to Elle, Instyle, Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire, Porter and Lucky. For years too. Glamour, now way because it does not appeal to me. I really love Vogue. Though the contents can be boring sometimes but I get a lot of style inspirations from them. I just finished reading the December issue this morning. I have close to over 100 magazines that I am yet to read because I fell behind when I got pregnant with my son two years ago. My #1 fav thing to do became the least on my list.

As for Gigi, I saw her mom on the RHOBeverly Hills and I just fell in love with her. Gigi seems like a sweet gir and very pretty too.

  5. I used to buy vogue religiously when I was a prop stylist for fashion mags (and even got to do a shoot for said mag) but nowadays I tend to read most stuff online and aim for arts/ins dependent mags. Love discovering Gigi though, watched her on the red carpet and she’s definitely got a spark about her. X

  6. Once upon a time when I wanted to be Editor In Chief of my own mag, I had the magazine stashes of mag stashes ranging from mainstream to ‘alternative’ fashion mags- the ones made for creatives and published at set times during the year e.g. quarterly and that cost up to and above 10 pounds- and i would pay without batting an eyelid…
As for Gigi H, she is a very pretty girl yep, but she does nothing for me…also the white contraption she wore to a music award show deserved 50 lashes and a walk of the plank…
Her mum is also known for taking selfies in the hospital. I rest my case…
