Celebrity Style: Solange in David LaPort at MET Gala 2016

If you have been reading Fashion and Style Police for a while now, you would have noticed I stopped writing about best and worst dressed red carpet dresses and so on. I use to write about them until fairly recently, I think I stopped pretty much this year. I lost interest, and I have decided to only write about what I want to write about, and what my readers would enjoy reading. You won’t enjoy reading what I have no interest in writing, so it is best for me to lose out on the traffic that comes with those kind of posts, than to bore you guys silly.

I may feel like writing about red carpet sightings and dresses in the future, but for now, I am so not in the mood, and I can’t be bothered. So you will be won’t be reading those kind of posts on Fashion and Style Police anytime soon. What you will continue to be reading as far as celebrity style is concerned, would be – Yay or Nay, Style Icon, Beauty Muse and Who Wore It Better. I may be introducing more celebrity style series in future, and there may be one-offs as well, but for now these will do.

I will be going into more detail with the ‘Yay or Nay’, and ‘Who Wore It Better’ posts, so instead of you just telling me if you like the outfit, and who wore it better, I would be telling you what I think of the outfits as well. It is time to live up to my blog name.

So today we are dissecting Solange’s style on the 2016 MET Gala red carpet. She wore this bright yellow ensemble by the Amsterdam based fashion designer; David LaPort. I am not sure what to make of this outfit. I am usually a fan of anything Solange has on, even if it is a paper bag, but I am on the face with this outfit. It looks all over the place, and a little bit uncomfortable as well. I mean, how would she sit or wee comfortably with piece on, I have no idea.

What are your thoughts?

  1. I agree with you, it looks uncomfortable and I might add it also looks weird. I don’t like it, is not flattering or pretty.

  2. Usually I can pick out a design element from an extreme red carpet dress that could be used within a high street design – but I can see any positives in this dress. But I love the shoes 🙂

  3. I love the colour of this but that’s about the only positive thing I can say unfortunately! It doesn’t look very comfortable or flattering BUT it is eye catching and has got people talking x

  4. Have to agree on the cupcake comments. Now I am into funky, quirky and different. However it does not include this outfit. Yes the colour suits her however that is all I can say about it. Perfect for a fancy dress cupcake party yes. It does nothing for her and there is too much yellow going on. Big fashion mistake, this. I can’t see it suiting anyone IMHO. Big thumbs down from me

  5. Um, I really have no idea what to say on this outfit, I think the only thing that is ok is the colour, although too bright for me. I have to also agree on the cupcake comment, each to their own I suppose and it has got people talking about her x

  6. Her outfit did the job in the sense that it got people talking! The colour looks fab on her but the style of dress. ..
I love the red Sandals from your wishlist. I might inject a bit of colour into my wardrobe through shoes this summer as I wear so much black!

  7. I want to like this outfit so much, Solange’s style is normally totally on point and the colour is amazing! The outfit is totally out there and something that little bit different, but I’m with you in wondering how she sat down in it!! x

  8. My first thought was when I saw this outfit was WTF? Horrible, the rubber looking stocking are a big NO! What was she thinking. The only good thing about this outfit is the colour is nice a summery

  9. Sometimes (or would that be most times????) I just get Solange’s style, I think they took this whole lemonade thing too far…..but hey they know it’s gonna get them column inches…oh…and sales. I don’t think her terrible outfit represents what the Met Gala is about…I could waffle on about this…lol
