I got my hands on this MAC Gently Off Eye and Lip Makeup Remover some weeks ago, and I have used it quite a few times now. If you have been reading my product reviews posts, you will know all about my obsession with makeup remover products, and how I struggle to find the ones that do the job quickly and effectively. Well, purchasing this product was for me to see if the almighty MAC Gently Off Eye and Lip Makeup Remover, would do the job.
But I made a huge mistake. I did not read the product description correctly before purchasing. I thought it would be great for the entire face as well but it is not. It is mainly for the eyes and the lips. So learn from my mistake, and go through the entire product description twice before purchasing.
Here is what MAC has to say about this makeup remover:
Oil and water do mix, for twice the impact – just shake. A dual-phase, easy-does-it formula that sweeps off even tenacious waterproof mascara and lip colour. Absolutely gentle; suitable for all skin types. It comes with soothing cucumber extract and Damascus Rose flower water to refresh. No need to rinse.
Here are my thoughts on this product:
PROS
- I love the coral colour. It looks amazing on my white dressing table.
- It is a very gentle product. So no stings at all, even if a tiny bit gets into your eyes.
- It smells amazing.
- It takes off eye makeup after a few applications depending on how heavy your eye makeup was. It also wipes off any lip makeup with little effort.
- It is great for all skin types.
- Many departmental stores stock MAC products, so they are easy to find both online and in stores.
CONS
- You have to remember to shake it before using it, so the oil and water can mix.
- It is expensive at £16 for a 100ml bottle, for just wiping makeup off the eyes and lips. It is more budget friendly to go for a face wash or cleanser that will wipe off the entire face.
- The packaging like the MAC Fix+ is quite flimsy. It is very difficult to get it open. I think I should just stop purchasing MAC products that come in this push-twist bottle. I find them hard work.
Overall, I would not recommend this product. If I read the product description properly, I won’t have bought it. I won’t be buying this particular product again but I am still crazily in love with MAC.
What are your thoughts? Do tell..
Ouch! £16 for just eyes and lips is crazy expensive. Yes, it looks pretty but seems a waste of money compared to something for all of your face.
Yea I won’t buy it again..
Wow, I couldn’t justify the £16 price tag just for eyes and lips. It does look pretty but a shame it hasn’t really worked out well for you.
Yea it does look pretty..
The product looks good but too pricey as just a makeup remover. I love the colour though.
Yea it is xo
Great review Stella. The price I believe is not bad because the product works.

Xo
Thanks Moji.Have a lovely weekend x
yep a bit too pricey for my budget.. (it would probably cost more in euro too as I’m in Ireland) i love the colour,, but not for me
Yea it is pricey.
I would say it’s a bit pricey hun. I would get the cheap and cheerful one, works just as good. x
Yea I agree xo
It looks nice, but that would be way too expensive for me.
I know..
I love MAC but this seems to be a disaster. Thanks for sharing the review and saving some good money!

Thanks for reading. Off to check your blog.
I’d never really thought of going to mac for eye makeup remover. I much prefer an oil cleanser to remove my makeup from Sanctuary – That’s what is working for me at the moment anyway!
Oh nice. I have heard a lot about Sanctuary.
ouch £16 does seem expensive for only being able to use it on the face and lips! I
Yea I agree.
I usually have a face cleanser, but the eye and lip make-up remover seems great! 🙂

Yea it is ok.
I love MAC, but that is a bit expensive and not do the whole face!
Yea it is.
This is a bit expensive, not sure I would ever want to buy this!
I know.
I like my quality however as good as this sounds, I couldn’t warrant £16-00 for an eye and lipstick remover. Thank you for reviewing
Yea it is very expensive for just that x
Don’t really use make-up or know much about make-up but I do like Mac products 🙂
Yea MAC products are great x
It is such a shame about the price – but it sounds like an interesting product. x
Yea it is a lovely product. Just too pricey.
Thank you so much for your review – I was looking at getting some of this, but now I know it’s not for the whole face, I won’t be bothering! x
Thanks for reading Tanya x
I am the same I wouldn’t have minded buying it if it was for the whole face but I can buy a much cheaper cleanser that focuses on particular areas that need targeting.
Yea.
I find that Nivea micellar water works really well for me, it’s a great price too and sometimes on offer!
Oh nice. I will look out for it.
I rarely use make-up so I wouldn’t think on buying this product.. :/ but if I were to buy a make-up remover I wouldn’t probably spend £16.. xx
I agree x
I have never tried their make up remover, I love their make up so will have to give it a go 🙂
It is worth trying.
That’s a lot of money for just an eye/lip remover. Although I’m with you crazy in love with MAC!
Yea it is a lot of money isn’t it?
Wow, that is expensive for it not to be suitable for the whole face!xx
Yea it is..
