Weekend in Amsterdam

Fashion and Style Police is primarily a fashion and beauty blog, but with a bit of lifestyle thrown in for good measure. So you will be hearing about  a few things going on in my life sometimes. Last weekend, myself & the rest of the crew were in Amsterdam! It was a short but exciting trip. It was our first time visiting the beautiful city of Amsterdam, and I learnt quite a lot about their culture in our short trip.

The city of Amsterdam reminded me of Dusseldorf in Germany. I visited Dusseldorf some years ago, and the similrities in both cities is difficult to miss. However, I found Amsterdm more fast pace. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry on their bicycles. There were loads of them. The main city centre was always packed. It was impossible to get on a tram most times because they were usually filled. We found it easier to get into cabs, they were reasonably priced and the traffic was not a lot. I guess because everyone seems to be riding a bicycle without a helmet. Even the children riding along with their parents on the bikes didn’t have helmets on. I found it so dangerous and scary. Although bicycles have designated lanes, they move soooo fast, and ride really reckless with many of the riders texting and riding. I guess that explains why I saw 2 bike accidents happen in front of me on the same day. Thankfully no one was badly injured but the accidents confirmed my worries.

We did a lot of sight seeing. The weather was lovely, if not too lovely. Got on a boat cruise that took us round the city. I even had the luxury of spoiling myself at a Rituals Cosmetics store. I got a few sweet smelling things. I will be reviewing some of them soon. Overall I had a good time and I am looking forward to my next holiday already. I have a few planned for the next couple of months, and I really cannot wait!

If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen some pictures from the trip but if you missed them, go have a look.

Thanks for reading and have a fab day.

  1. Seeing people riding without a helmet always makes me nervous, but I can’t believe there were people texting and riding too, I can’t imagine that’s safe!

  2. I have been to both Düsseldorf and Amsterdam and I can see the similarities but I preferred Düsseldorf. Glad you had fun and some sight seeing

  4. It does surprise me there are not more accidents between cyclists. I never hire the London bikes as riding on the road terrifies me, the bikes are really heavy and I do not have a helmet.

But I’d love to go back to Amsterdam.
