What to do if I win the lottery

Have you ever thought of what you would do if you won the lottery? I know I have. I won’t describe myself as a gambler, but sometimes I like to think of what to would feel like to win the EuroMillions for example. I bet I would feel like I am sitting on top of the world. I had the opportunity to play the Lottoland lottery for the first time, a few hours ago, and I am currently keeping my fingers and toes crosses, hoping I win. And if I do win, I have it all planned out or I think I do.

There are many stories in the press of people who won millions and lost everything within months. If I ever win the lottery, I won’t want that to happen to me because it is easily done. Many people who win the lottery never thought they would, so they never really had a plan of wht to do with the money, and how to spend it. And when you don’t have a plan, you plan to fail.

Here are the first 6 steps i would take if I do win the £39 million:

I won’t go public

I definitely won’t go public. I don’t get why people do. You will just have everyone and their nan, lining up to have a share of your win, which will defeat the purpose of winning to sort out your life and those of your loved ones. I won’t tell a soul if I win the lottery, except close family members and friends. Some things are better left private, and this is one of them.

I will make a gradual transition

So I won’t shut down the blog and go blow the millions, lol. Everything in my life would remain as normal. I will keep working, and then I would transition to a millionire gradually, once my investments start to pay off.

I will go on a proper holiday

I will take my entire family on a proper holiday to an exotic location like Bahamas. I would probably fly us all first class, and stay in a heavenly resort or hotel.

I will get professional advice

I will get professional advice. I will definitely want to invest a good portion of the lottery win, and make the money work hard for me. So getting professional advice is the smartest move.

I will clear every debt

So mortgage and credit cards will be fully paid.

I will have a budget

Once the professional advice is out of the way, I will want to save a good portion of win, put some money away for the kids, invest a good chunk of it, and have some spending money for day-to-day life.

These are some of the first steps I would take if I do win the EuroMillions. I guess I will just have to wait and see if I ever do win.

Thanks for reading and have a great day.

  1. I used to play the lottery but I don’t any more since the last price increase. I had a couple of years where I won noting and when it came to £2 a ticket I decided my money would be better off just saved in jar. sadly I don’t put the £4 a side every week lol

  2. I have planned it out what I would do, I remember once when I was about 7 my Nan let me pick the lottery numbers but the highest I picked was something silly like 10 she refused to put the numbers on and every number I picked came out! I thought we had won so I was jumping about mean while my nan and mum were arguing about why she didn’t just put the damn numbers on. We only play now if we feel a bit lucky or the Jackpot is big

  3. Very good post. If happen to win any huge lottery, I will keep it quiet as you said, invest, better my life and my family and take care of the motherless baby home of my choice. Lol

  4. I’m in syndicate for the lottery, so you never know. I am the same as you. No way I would want publicity. I would pay mu debts off, make sure my adult youngsters were alright, do what I needed to our home, big family holiday, some to charity and then take investment advice. Think our list I about the same Stella

  5. I would definitely clear our debts & pay off the mortgage, even though I’d move to a bigger house I wouldn’t go overboard with a mansion or anything. Just something that ticks our boxes, then I’d invest in my business, money doesn’t last long if it’s spent!
