Kanye West’s Yeezy Clothing Line

I have never understood Kanye West’s Yeezy clothing line and this new season collection is no different. Personally I think Kanye should stick to rapping but it looks like he is more interested in the fashion designing world these days, so what do I know…

I just see the pieces as a bunch of ‘rags’ put together. They have no beauty or style whatsoever. I think Kanye West tries to hard to stand out with the entire focus being on the fashion shows being very weird different, that he loses focus on the collection itself. Or maybe he thinks his pieces are appealing but I beg to differ. I can’t imagine anyone in the ‘real world’ wearing anything from his collection, but maybe I am not just fashionable enough to see it. But then again, Kanye chatted with Vogue stating his clothing line isn’t really bout fashion (then what is it about Kanye?) –

“Let’s say ‘apparel,’ especially for the style of clothes I make,” he said. “I’m not saying that this is a fashion proposition, I’m saying that this is a human proposition.” The clothes are inspired by family, his home in Calabasas, California, and the desire to be out of the public eye sometimes. “Because there’s absolutely no way for me or my family to be invisible, I’ve put that longing for invisibility into the clothes.”

For this 4th fashion show, presented by Adidas with a performance by collaborator and artist Vanessa Beecroftit, it was all about getting on a bus to a secret location. The invited guests had no clue where the location of the fashion show would be until when they actually got there. The guests lucky enough to get an invite received it on the morning of the show. They were whisked off in a bus from a meeting spot to the fashion show venue – Roosevelt Island in New York.

The fashion show had models in underwear on a long lawn facing the Queensborough Bridge. They were in position for a bit under the scorching sun and a model apparently fainted, but that is beside the point. My issue with the whole Yeezy Clothing is the pieces are not practical or stylish, and definitely not worth the hype. He needs to stop with all these fashion stunts he pulls and focus on his designs and caring for his models too. But I guess he would still designing for a while until this all facade wears off, and he accepts the fact that he is a better rapper than he is a designer.

  1. I agree with you here – I don’t see who would wear these in real life, they are not beautiful, practical or stylish and I think he is flogging a bit of a dead horse here as I don’t think he gets the best reception in the fashion world and for just reasons

  2. I saw on facebooj a girl from highschool who brought 4 items for $600aud from the new line! she posted photos on the description and they were sooo ugly. People unfortunately do wear them hahaha, everyone was commenting so jealous and how awesome they look

  3. I just don’t get his fashion line…and so sad as I’m a fellow Chicagoan. I think it’s all for attention and to stay relevant because no1 listens 2 his music anymore.
