Fashion disasters can happen to the most stylish of us. Most times, it is completely out of hands, and there is nothing we could have done to stop the disaster from happening. I have experience quite a few fashion disasters in my lifetime already; a zip giving way, a broken heel, torn tights, and so many others. The annoying part of these fashion disasters is that they happen in the most awkward places. My heel broke at work once, I had to walk around bare feet until I got spare flats from a co-worker. My zip gave way at a party once, on the dancing floor, imagine that? Thankfully, not many people noticed but it was still embarrassing.
We can’t always avoid these fashion disasters but we can solve them quickly. Here are some fashion disaster SOS that you may find useful while out and about –
Broken Heel
If your high heel snaps into 2, coat 1 piece with a glue such as Shoe Goo Glue, at the site of the break and try to attach the other section. Also, stay off your feet as much as you can until you can change into another pair of shoes. Always safe to carry a pair of flats in your bag or leave in your car when you are rocking high heels. You never know when you might need it.
Red Wine Stain
Soda water is the best thing to use to get rid of a red wine stain on a white cotton dress. Gently sponging off a red wine stain with soda water would get the stain off.
Dull Shoes
Smear a tiny amount of petroleum jelly over your shoes. It would give your dull shoes a shine.
Chewing Gum Stain
Get rid of the chewing gum with a knife, hold an ice-cube over the stain until it hardens. This will enable you scrape off the excess gum. Then sponge the area with hot water. This will remove the chewing gum stain completely.
Stubborn Zips
If a zipper won’t budge for whatever reason, run a leap pencil along the teeth of the zip. If that doesn’t work, then rub a bar of soap or candle wax onto the problem area. With a little manipulation, the zipper should come unstuck.
Rain Marks on Suede
Use a nail file or rough pencil eraser to gently get rid of rain marks on a suede garment.
Loose Button
Dot the top of a loose button with a clear nail polish to stop the threads from loosening further and the button from falling off.

I used to break my heels all the time on nights out. I kept chewing gum in my bag just to make it to the end of the night
That has happened to me a few times. So embarrassing.
I’ve had to rely on a fair few of these hints and tips in the past… My favourite is the suede shoe trick.
Ah nice.
I think I often find that zips are the worse or maybe even just a general make up stain!
Yea I usually have horrible experiences with my zips.
Zips are a nightmare. I try to avoid clothing with them in though it’s not that easy.
As for tights if I am wearing a nice pair (I don’t use them often) I just tend to carry a spare pair with me as I always catch them on something.
How I don’t know but I always seem to end up with a hole, hence why I don’t wear nice quality tights top often. Too expensive
Zips are a nightmare most of the time for me. Tights don’t last with me either.
Beautiful tips and very helpful too. Will keep them close to my heart and share with loved ones too. Thanks for sharing.
