Country chic: 3 simple ways to add equestrian style to your Autumn/Winter wardrobe

Almost every Autumn/Winter season, a nod to countryside fashions can be found gracing the pages of top-end style magazines. Vogue has declared nods to equestrian chic in the top 10 A/W styles this year, including military epaulettes on the Burberry catwalk, and heritage fabrics taking centre stage on key pieces, including gorgeous Prince of Wales check at Isabel Marant.

When choosing country-style clothing, although it is always fun to get some country-inspired pieces, where possible, go for authentic country clothing. Authentic country clothing is designed with active lifestyles in mind, so they choose the highest quality materials – as you can see from the selection below! Not only that but to reduce fast fashion, it is always better to invest in quality materials and timeless, classic styles.

Chelford Farm Supplies have sourced a fabulous country and equestrian clothing collection which combines elements of these A/W16 trends with durability, warmth, and practicality.

Boots

The boot is a classic for a reason: eternal practicality. If you’re looking for a Wellington, then try the classic Hunter boot, combining lovely on-trend colours and styles with innate hardiness. If you’re aiming for a stylish look to take you around town, invest in some Fairfax & Favor boots to pair with smart denim and a tailored jacket. Be sure to invest in some suede protector, because you’ll want these boots to keep walking for decades.

Heritage fabrics

This stunning Holland Cooper military jacket is reminiscent of the Burberry, Prada, and Miu Miu coats on the catwalk this season. Individually hand cut and handmade in Great Britain, this beautifully tailored statement piece is made with the highest quality Scottish tweed. The suede cuffs and signature gold buttons give this jacket a unique, high-end finish, and the feminine cut creates an enviable silhouette. What do you think?

Shirts

The trophy blouse was huge on the A/W 16 catwalk, with designers as diverse as Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs and Roksanda. For a more wearable day-to-night look with a heritage feel, try this gorgeous Joules pop-over shirt with a hand-drawn fox and pheasant print. Layer under a v-neck sweater for a subtle look; pair with cropped denim and heels during the daytime for a contemporary spin on ladylike dressing; add a sleek blazer for a dinner-and-drinks look in the evening.

I can picture myself rocking all the pieces here together, and adding a black v-neck sweater. What do you think of these pieces? Will you be rocking similar pieces this A/W?

  1. These items are simply gorgeous. They wouldn’t personally suit me (although I do love those boots) but I have a friend who I can imagine would look amazing in an outfit like this.

  2. Totally loving those boots, I haven’t got anything for autumn winter yet I so need a shopping trip.

  3. Oh my gosh!
    Those boots are absolutely beautiful.
The jacket is also stunning, whilst not in my comfort zone of things to wear, they are things I’d trial if someone set me up with an outfit..
