How to Get Rid of Stubborn Blackheads/Whiteheads

Blackheads/Whiteheads; how do we get rid of them? Many of us have them. Some on our faces, others on our chests and even our backs are usually not spared.

Both blackheads and whiteheads are caused as a result of clogged pores. The oil and dirt fill up the pores and if you don’t take care of your face properly, a blackhead or whitehead could lead to pimples, which are far worse.

The good news is that there’s a solution to blackheads and whiteheads. The only things you need to do are:

  1. Be patient
  2. Be consistent

Here are 3 things you can do to get rid of stubborn blackheads or whiteheads effectively. Remember this: patience and consistency are key to getting rid of these beauty issues!

Pick the right cleansers and toners

One of the major things you should do when it comes to blackheads and whiteheads is to choose a cleanser and toner that will get rid of whatever is blocking those pores.

Cleansers or toners that deep cleanse your pores are the best. These cleansers combat clogged pores by dissolving the fat and oil blocking the pores. This will help make your pores free from impurities and drastically reduce the number of blackheads and whiteheads on your face or body.

Cleanse your face daily.

Apply a clay mask

There’s a reason why clay masks are part of a beauty routine. Clay masks contain certain elements that help in absorbing impurities from your skin. This is what makes clay masks quite efficient at removing blackheads and whiteheads.

They draw out the fats and oil, dried skin and dirt that block the pores on your face. This will leave your face smooth and glowing.

Just a few minutes of putting on a clay mask and your skin will thank you for it!

Aim to use a face mask once a week.

Exfoliate

This may sound a little surprising to some but regularly exfoliating your skin would help clear your skin of blackheads and whiteheads. The particles in your scrub gently remove all the debris from the surface of your skin and in your pores. This leaves your skin feeling smooth and it helps lighten dark spots as an added bonus.

Natural exfoliants like baking soda, sea salt and Epsom salt are very effective not only as scrubs but as a means of getting rid of blackheads and whiteheads. They also help to reduce inflammation.

Aim to exfoliate once or twice a week.

  1. I don’t suffer with either, but i’m all over my skincare atm. Since turning 40 i’m really upping my game. My daughter does tho and i’m going to get her to implement some of the tips that you have mentioned, so great post, thanks for that 🙂

  2. My daughter suffers from blackheads, and I keep trying to drum it in to her to have a routine with this and that; but she is 16, and thinks that there should be an instant cure and that they should never come back. I’ll remind her of all this next time she is complaining.

  3. I used to have an issue with both but rarely do anymore as my skin has not been oily as I have gotten older. Your advice for dealing with them is exactly what I would do to deal with them at the time and is really spot on.

  4. I have good skin so not particularly an issue for me. I get an occasional whitehead on my forehead. That’s it.

I am very skin keen so have a good discipline for it. Being over 50 now (that’s as far as I will go Ha) I am even keener than when I was in my 40s with it.

No one thinks I am the age I am so it must be working 😉

  5. I get breakouts and last month i started to get a bit of acne too. I’ve never had acne in my life before, not even when i was a teenager. I bought a load of tea tree products from the body shop and they worked a treat x

  6. Some fab tips. Not had any clay masks but find it important to never skip steps like – cleanse, tone, moisturise and weekly exfoliating. I often deal with hormonal skin so even with the best skincare things like clay masks might help x

  7. I do all this and still get them I think you can get rid of them temporary but always come back for me I kind of have that skin and always had very bad problems with mine and still do.

  8. i do all of this but love the look of that black mask that pulls out the blackheads – its everywhere right now and i really would love to try it!
