Shirts are wardrobe essentials for both men and women. And for this reason, many of us own quite a few shirts in various styles and colours. There is a wide variety of shirts to choose from in different stores. So it cam be tricky to shop for the right shirt. Here is how I go about it –
Shop for the right shirt by focusing on the material
Shirts come in a variety of styles and fabrics. And it can be confusing when deciding on which shirts to shop.
Style Tip – Opt for shirts with fabrics that are stretchy so you don’t lose it in the wash. But not too stretchy, or they will hug the lumps and bumps, you rather hide. It can be tricky to get this balance right. The only way you can be 100% of the fabric before you buy is to try it in the stores, so online shopping is a gamble when it comes to shopping for shirts.
Have a classic white shirt
A classic white shirt is a wardrobe essential, and everyone should have at least one in their wardrobe. It can be worn to the office and dressed down with jeans for other occasions.
Style Tip – When shopping for the right shirt, it is best to go for good quality cotton for crispness. Anything less won’t cut it.
Opt for fashion shirts
Fashion shirts are still in vogue and I like them. I have a few in my wardrobe, and plan on adding some more to my collection. They are great for taking you from AM to PM with ease and style. Fashion shirts can be teamed up with skirts or trousers, to add some softness to a tailored look.
Style Tip – When shopping for fashion shirts, go for pieces that are lined to avoid see through issues.

Yes it does.
Always have a white shirt to hand, the best classic piece that can be styled in multiple of ways.
True that.
You look so nice in your pics – I love a nice shirt but I’ve got massive breasts so a bit hard to find that perfect one – love the last photo!
Thanks Katy.
I love a classic white shirt, especially with jeans – such a classic timeless look!
Yes I agree.
I never suit shirts / blouses but tend to go with tops / tunics, you look good though 🙂 suits you
Thanks a lot.
I love your tshirt with the blog name! Great tips as always, my fashion sense disappeared when I gave birth haha
Thanks Jenni.
Shirts are something I’m DESPERATE for! I can never get them to fit and always feel podgey! I tend to stick to dresses to avoid the problems :’)
Personally I would purchase a baggier shirt and then get a tailor to tuck it in (this is relatively inexpensive). A well fitted shirt looks amazing no matter what body shape!
I know what you mean. It can be tricky to get the right fit.
A white shirt is an absolute staple in the wardrobe:)

Yea me too x
I love spending time finding the right shirt, they’re definitely a classic wardrobe staple.
Yes Rachel.
I don’t wear shirts! Broad back and big breasts even when I was a size 10 they just don’t work for me.
I once had a beautiful orange smock like shirt that was perfect. It’s the only 1 I ever felt right in and I only tried it cos of the colour. It was fab to wear as a cotton cardi type.
I like a good quality plain t-shirt with a suit. I guess if Ì ever saw a shirt like that again I would buy it however for me I am not comfortable with shirts.
I do love the black and white shirt your wearing though
Ah nice. Thank you.
I don’t currently own any shirts but before I had kids I wore them for wore almost everyday and had some really lovely ones
