Type of Cosmetic Powders for Everyday Use

Cosmetic powders finish and set the base of the makeup beautifully. Which is why they are an important part of our everyday makeup. It is wise to pick a shade that would suit your skin tone and foundation. The last thing you would need is to have your cosmetic powder in the wrong shade as that can ruin your whole makeup because it will create different shades on your face.

Here are the different types of cosmetic powder you can use –

Loose Powders

Loose Powders are quite famous with the makeup artists and beauty gurus. A loose powder is made up of small particles and comes in a jar rather than a compact case. They come in similar shades to liquid foundation and provide a buildable coverage.

Loose Powders are considered more superior than other types of powders. Loose powders can be messy so they need to be applied with care and used sparingly with a powder brush. You will need to blow the blush to remove any excess powder first before applying. It is best to start applying your loose powders in the middle so that the t zone, which is the shiny parts of your face get the most powder coverage.

Some great Loose Powders are Clinique Blended Face Powder and Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent, from the Flawless Face Collection.

Compact Pressed Powder and Finishing Powder

I use these everyday. Compact Pressed Powder and Finishing Powder are easier to use and not as messy as the loose powders. Having said that, they are not as effective as loose powders when it comes to coverage, so they can be tricky to apply. I prefer the finish the loose powder gives me but because I hardly ever have the time to use them, I stick to the compact pressed powders.

Compact Pressed Powders are pretty much Loose Powders in a compact form. While Finishing Powders are translucent powders used to control shine and give a matte finish. I use the Finishing Powder to finish off my makeup and leave my face matte and smooth. I also use them when I feel my makeup is starting to wear off.

Here are some amazing compact pressed and finishing powders you may want to try out – Rimmel London Insta Fix & Matte Powder Transparent, BOOTS No7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder and L’Oreal Paris Infallible Powder.
