Hey beauty lovers. Welcome to the new month of March. To start off the lovely month is the Beauty Muse; Jada Pinkett Smith. For those who do not know, Jada Pinkett Smith is an American actress, singer-songwriter, screenwriter and businesswoman.This ageless beauty is a real stunner, which is why she is the featured beauty muse of the month. She has an amazing skin with beautiful facial features. I was surprised to discover she is 49 years old. She could easily pass for a woman in her early thirties. Jada Pinkett Smith is definitely a Beauty Muse.

I have been a huge fan of this gorgeous woman for many years now. She has a natural beauty and looks so pretty with or without makeup. Her skin is beauty goals for many and I would love to be a fly on the wall to watch how she cares for her skin. I am sure I would learn a thing or 2 from her skincare routine. Her skin is so flawless and she looks amazing every time I see her, even with very minimal makeup, which is her trademark look. Looking at her equally beautiful 65-year-old mom, Adrienne Banfield-Jones, I can see Smith is blessed in the genes department.

“Even on makeup days, I try go to light,” she said. “I do a lot of steam on my skin. On days off, I use hardly anything. I try to give the skin a break. Less is more.”

Best Beauty Foods for Anti-Ageing

Our skin is one of our most prized possessions. We have our skin on everyday, so taking care of it should be one of the most important things since we can’t just go and get a new skin. I neglected my skin for years in my youth and I paid dearly for it. Now that I am older and wiser, I now know how important the skin is and why everyone should have a good skincare routine. Our diet and lifestyle affects the skin, which is why we have to really pay attention to what we eat and drink, and how we live day-to-day.

Once you hit the thirties, you skin would likely change. You will usually have to change your skincare products and routine to nourish your new skin. This is where the anti-ageing products come in usually. However, you could include beauty foods to help you nourish your skin from the inside out. Here are some beauty foods for anti-ageing –

 

Soya-based foods

These help aid skin regeneration while slowing down the ageing process. Some of my favourite soya-based foods are soya milk and soya yoghurt.

 

Antioxidants

Antioxidant rich foods are great for keeping the skin looking youthful and nourished. Some of them are sweet potatoes, mangoes, tomatoes and peppers.

 

Vitamin A rich foods

Orange fruit and vegetables are amazing for skin. They are great for helping clear out acne and other skin conditions.

Drink water

This tip can’t be overemphasised. Drinking a couple of glasses of water would do wonders for your skin and health. If you are like me, you may struggle to drink the required amount of water daily, but it’s strongly advised that you do. Hydrating foods like cucumber, watermelon and celery are great for the skin as well.

 

Our skin is super important and caring for it everyday should be non-negotiable. Many of us spend a small fortune on skincare products but fail to pay attention to our diet and lifestyle. If we eat right and live right, we may not need that many products to keep our skin glowing.

Beauty Muse: Taraji P Hensen

Hey beauty lovers! The beautiful Taraji P Hensen is the beauty muse this month. I am a huge fan of this gorgeous black woman. This American actress and author has an amazing skin and her facial features are simply beautiful. It is hard to believe she is actually 49 years old. She could easily pass as a woman in her early thirties. This woman is simply gorgeous!

I remember seeing Taraji P Hensen in her first role in Baby Boy. That movie was one of my favourite back in the day. I became a fan of Hensen immediately. It would be lovely to be a fly on her wall to see how she gets to keep her skin glowing this much. But since that is not possible, reading her interviews where she shares her skincare routine and beauty tips is the closest to spying I can get.

Here are some of her skincare and beauty secrets she shared with Vogue a few days ago –

 

For her makeup

“I just like to look refreshed…. I’d usually just pop a lash on and go!”

“I’m just showing off for y’all. I just want you to know I know how to do makeup.”

This is true, she usually wears her makeup light and the natural look works great for her.

 

Here a few more skincare tips she shared in a different interview with Glamour

I wash my face in the morning and at night. I drink a lot of water. You have to stay hydrated. As far as my hair…I wrap my hair at night because that’s less heat on it everyday. I’m a health whore, for lack of a better word. I love healthy hair and healthy skin. Also, I love skin that glows. That’s why I love this shea butter, because I put it on and I feel like, when I go home and I go to bed I take my clothes off, I feel like I’ve just put lotion on. And I only put it on once a day. I use the cream for my feet and I put socks on at night.

 

Her tips are spot on. Drinking a lot of water everyday does wonders for the skin and overall health. Washing the face morning and evening nourishes the facial skin and keeps it clean/moisturised. These tips definitely help the skin stay healthy and I can see they are working great for her.
