Best Foods for Nails and Hair

I have started paying extra attention to my nails and hair, and they are both looking great! It just proves that what you focus on will definitely thrive.  My hair was in a terrible shape some years ago. Chemicals damaged my hair badly, and it was weak and dull. I decided to grow my hair natural and I am thankful I made that decision. It took a few years to get my hair looking good again. I tried various products and tricks to bring my hair back to life and I finally found a hair routine that works great for my hair. My hair is now growing like weed and I now able to wear my natural hair in different ways. My nails were also very weak and brittle, but that is no longer the case. Having a good diet does help the nails and help grow healthy and strong. Here are some of the best foods for nails and hair.

Best Foods for Nails

Our nails need calcium and silicon. These can be found in diary products but also in eggs, oats, sardines, sesame seeds and nuts. Ginger, gingko biloba and garlic also help in circulation, which in turn helps the nails stay healthy and look beautiful. The white flecks on the nails are caused by zinc deficiency. You can top up your zinc with oysters. A zinc multivitamin will also help your nails and overall health. Drinking water helps keep the nails from drying out, so keep drinking the recommended amount of water everyday.

Best Foods for Hair

Our hair is one of the first parts of our body to show a nutrient deficiency. If you want your hair looking healthy and shiny, you have to ensure your diet is balanced. For hair growth, Iron is what you need the most. You can get this from dark green vegetables, red meat, dried fruit and the likes. Omega 3 essential fatty acids foods like flax seeds, almonds and oily fish are also great for helping the hair grow strong and healthy. Water is also very important when it comes to healthy hair. Product Review: Untamed Hair Dryer

These days, I am paying special attention to my haircare routine and I have started noticing a massive improvement in my hair. It just confirms that good care can grow almost anything and that includes my very disobedient hair! My natural hair has not been growing as fast as I wanted. I only just realised the reason it wasn’t growing as quickly as I wanted was because I wasn’t caring for my hair the way it needed to be cared for. Nowadays, I pay special attention to any product I use on my hair and I can hardly recognise my hair now.

I was super excited to try out Untamed Hair Dryer. Prior to trying out this lovely machine for myself, I have read some amazing reviews about it so I was super keen. Untamed Hair Dryer is so different from the other hair dryers I am used to. This fantastic hair dryer doesn’t just dry your hair but it also moisturises thanks to the mini Argan Oil . It comes with a special nozzle that allows you to attach a bottle of Argan oil. This allows you multi-task by drying and nourishing your hair with the Argan oil. It is such an amazingly smart machine.

How to wash your hair properly

It took me many years to realise I have been washing my hair all wrong. We tend to pay more attention to our skin than our hair for some weird reason. We spend time cleaning, toning and moisturising our face. On some days, we even use a face mask. However, when it comes to hair wash days, many of us spend a couple of minutes and we are done. I only recently started washing my hair properly, and I can see the difference already with the way my hair looks.

How to wash your hair properly

So how do you wash your hair properly? You need time and the right products and technique to get your hair clean and moisturised. It is going to take more than 2 minutes in the shower to achieve this. So if you have been washing your hair wrong all these years, these easy to follow steps may come in handy –

Use your shampoo sparingly

You don’t need a lot of shampoo to get your hair clean. A little goes a long way. The key is to ensure you massage the shampoo into your hair for about 5 minutes. That way the shampoo sinks into the hair and all the goodness is soaked it.

Rinse and rinse again

Once you have massaged the shampoo into the hair, you need to rinse and rinse again to ensure all traces of the shampoo are out of your hair. You should rinse your hair more than you think is required, that way you will be sure there is no trace of shampoo left in your hair and the hair feels like wet hair with no products in.

Use warm water

Make sure the water you are using is the right temperature. Warm water is the best for washing your hair. Cold water tangles the hair and hot water will strip the hair off all the moisture.

Use the conditioner correctly

You should ensure your read the label on the conditioner and follow the instructions on how to use it. You should leave your conditioner in for the time required.

Use the right products

I use SheaMoisture shampoo and conditioner and I have done so since I went natural. There is a range for everyone, so do try the different ranges until you find the right one for your hair type. Here are a few ideas here –
