Charity of the Month – Shout 85258

The charity of the month this February is Shout! I am now working closely with this charity and their work is so amazing. For those who are not familiar with Shout 85258, it is a free, confidential, 24/7 text-messaging support service for people struggling with their mental health. Also, Shout 85258 is the first service from Mental Health Innovations and it was launched in May 2019. Since the launch, Shout has had more than 1,000,000 conversations with people who are experiencing mental health distress.

Charity of the Month – Shout 85258

It is great to discover services like Shout 85258 working hard to help those who need support in an easy and confidential way. Many of us rather communicate via text messages these days, so having a charity step up and provide support in an innovative way is really helpful.

Here are some facts about mental health in the UK from Mind and NHS:

  • 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England.
  • 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England.
  • 1 in 10 children experiences mental illness.

Mental health illness can be a lonely experience for those dealing with it. In a busy noisy world, it is hard dealing with any form of distress. Plus, there’s still a stigma attached to mental health illness, which is why we must continue to talk about it and raise more awareness so more people feel comfortable seeking help.

How to help Shout 85258

There are many ways to get involved in supporting this charity. You can help Shout 85258 continue to support those in need by donating, volunteering, fundraising and partnering. Another way of getting involved is by sharing the Shout 85258 number on social media to spread the word.

Thanks for reading and sharing. You can check out some other charities I support here. Have a lovely week ahead.
