Lily-Rose Depp Covers British Vogue December 2016

The 17 year old actress, and daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis; Lily-Rose Depp,  is the cover girl for December British Vogue. This beautiful cover was shot by Bruce Weber and styled by Joe McKenna.

I really like the cover. I think it is styled beautifully. I like the outfit, hair and makeup. And I love the pose a lot. Lily-Rose Depp is working it on that cover.

In this issue, the cover girl talks about her childhood, career and her relationship with social media.

 

Childhood

“My parents weren’t very strict,” she told William Van Meter for her cover interview. “They’ve always trusted me to be independent and make my own decisions. There wasn’t really anything to rebel against.”

 

Social Media

“I’ve really stopped using it in a personal way,” she told Meter of how she engages with Instagram. “I never like revealing too much about myself. Once you start giving people that look into your life, then they just want more and more.”

This issue sounds very interesting. I love what I see but it does not scream ‘buy me’ to me, so I don’t see myself grabbing a copy. If I bump into it, I would read it, but I won’t go out of my way or part with cash for it. Lily-Rose Depp is stunning, but I know little or nothing about her, apart from the fact that she is Johnny Depp’s kid.

I am a little surprised to see her on British Vogue if I am being completely honest. I think she would have made a fabulous cover girl for Teen Vogue but not British Vogue. I won’t have thought she would appeal to their target market.

Ruth Wilson Covers Marie Claire UK December 2016

The lovely Ruth Wilson covers Marie Claire UK December 2016 issue and I am loving it. It is a lovely cover. Ruth Wilson looks flawless on it.

I am a huge fan of this woman. I have followed her acting career since her Jane Eyre days. I loved her in Luther, and she literally blew my mind away with her character in The Affair. I can’t wait for the new season of the series to start. It is one of my current TV favourites.

This issue sounds like a fun read. The excerpts from her interview with Marie Claire makes me want to get out and buy it. I guess that was the effect they were hoping for. Here are some of them –

On wedding and a wedding dress –

I hate the thought of walking down the aisle in a white dress – I think it’s just a horrible idea. And I’m just not that excited by the idea of a wedding day, or of a ring on my finger’ she says, ‘I’m not even interested in jewellery.

 

On filming The Affair –

But arguably her most talked-about role to date is as Alison Bailey in The Affair, a role that has won her critical acclaim as well as a Golden Globe for Best Actress. Meeting writer Jane Mulkerrins for coffee in New York, Wilson said the sheer intensity of the show almost wiped her out. ‘The first season was relentless and draining. I’m not someone who can ever do something half-arsed, but at points, I did think, “Oh my god I can’t go any deeper.” I didn’t know if I could sustain it.’

Apart from the interview, the other features also sound very interesting. The new generation party looks feature sounds like a good style read. And I would like to read about the music industry dirty secret.

Emily Blunt Covers British Vogue November 2016

Emily Blunt covers British Vogue November 2016 and this is her first Vogue cover. This cover is very different from other magazine covers out and about now, and I love it. It is a breath of fresh air. I love her floral outfit, and the background is beautiful. Emily Blunt looks lovely on the cover. Her hair and makeup is spot on. Vogue ticked all the boxes with this cover right here.

I am not a huge fan of Emily Blunt but I have seen many of her movies. And I like her as an actress but I know little or nothing about her personal life. So I can see myself grabbing an issue this weekend. I like the fact that it is a real issue with real-life people, and no models. I have nothing against models but having real life people instead of models all over an issue is good.

In her interview with Vogue, Emily Blunt spoke about her Hollywood position and the lack of strong female leads –

 

“There’s such a shortage that when they do arise there’s a bit of a feeding frenzy among my peers,” she told interviewer Marisa Meltzer. “It’s a very good thing that we keep talking about the issue. It’s a conversation that needs to continue. Although I would prefer that we actually go in a direction of producing and creating more jobs for women in the film industry as opposed to talking about it.”

 

Apart from Blunt’s interview, I am also very interested in reading some of the other features like – “Beauty Confidential – How Real Do You Want to Look”, and “24 Hour Dressing – What You Wear in a Day”.
