The Confident Plus Size Woman

The British songstress; Adele is a stunning plus size woman. She is a UK size 16, very confident and very comfortable in her own skin. Adele carries herself so elegantly, she wears her clothes, not the other way around. She has her signature style and she is not afraid to tell the world she is happy with her weight. I love that about her.

I see some women looking frumpy just because they are overweight. Forgive me, but your weight is not an excuse to look disorganised, or to look like your Nan. You have to own it, whether you are a size 6 or a size is irrelevant. Adele was once quoted saying

I like having my hair and face done, but i am not going to lose weight because someone tells me to. I make music to be a musician not to be on the cover of Playboy.

I completely agree with her. Some women can dress up to save their lives and they are super skinny. Before Adele hit major stardom, she use to be seen in baggy sweaters and frumpy coats but all that changed with the help of her fashion stylist; Gaelle Paul. Gaelle Paul has changed her image by putting her full-fledged figure in more figure flattering pieces that give her a very elegant look. Thumbs up Gaelle Paul.

I know do not have the celebrity paycheck and cannot afford a fashion stylist like Gaelle Paul so I will be dishing out some tips for you to try out:

  1. Feminine styles are a lot better for the plus size woman. Don’t go for edgy or boho styles if you can help it. They just make you body appear bigger.
  2. You need to own it. Adele is a big girl, she knows it and she wears it with confidence. Remember that.
  3. Once you find those pieces that work for you, stick to them. Consistency is the key, Adele sticks to colours and styles that look good on her. She wears black a lot because they give the illusion of a slimmer body. This doesn’t mean you can’t wear colour, just go for neutral colours more, especially for the larger part of your body.
