I am a huge fan of the flannel material, it looks amazing. I have nothing like this in my wardrobe, so this beauty would fit right in. It also comes in other colours if black and white isn’t your thing.

Will you be shopping the high street?

The shops officially open today – 15th June 2020, here in the UK for non-essential shopping. Will you be shopping on the high street? I am not one to window shop so this question is very easy for me to answer. I won’t be shopping the high street but will carry on with my online shopping as usual. Going to the shops is always a drag for me, especially with the kiddies. I rather just shop online conveniently from the comfort of my home and online shopping is even more appealing in times like this when we are dealing with a pandemic.

The new COVID-19 guidelines for the shops opening have been announced. High street shops are expected to implement relevant hygiene and social distancing measures to protect customers and staff. Shops like Marks & Spencer and Ikea will be imposing restrictions on the number of customers in the stores, which is good to know. Clothes fitting and make-up section will not be available to customers, which is understandable. I never liked trying on clothes in stores, so I won’t miss that bit at all, but I know a good number of people will struggle with the fact that these facilities are no longer available for now.

Will it work?

It will be interesting to see how the first week of non-essential shopping goes. Will people go shopping or not? I wonder if the social distancing and relevant hygiene measures will be adhered to in the shops. This is all brand new and you never know how it will all look like in practice. I also wonder how the actual shopping will go. Will customers be allowed to touch the goods or not? I will be keeping my eyes open on social media to catch up on the news on that. Twitter is my favourite social media platform for anything newsworthy.

Fashion Inspiration – The 80s Fashion

I was born in the middle of the 80s, so I am quite passionate about the 80s fashion. The fashion and style of that decade has a special place in my heart. For those who are nota ware, the 80s fashion is all about shoulder pads, polka dots, bold style, colours, and silhouettes. It was an era filled with ripped tights, biker jackets, oversized blazers and poof skirts. The fashion back then felt and looked completely different from what we have now especially for women’s fashion. The designs and colours were so bold and fierce. Women felt and looked strong wearing them.

If I could go back in time to a particular era, it will definitely be the 1980s. Here are some of the pieces courtesy of Harper Bazaar you would have probably worn back in the 1980s –

Green blouse with shoulder pads over a black leotard.

I wore pieces with shoulder pads well into the 90s. It was one of those fashion trends that just didn’t go away quickly which was great because I had the time to play around with the trend. Shoulder pads have a way of making the outfit pop pop out even more. This piece right here is so very pretty. The green colour is stunning and the design is so bold. I am loving it!

Polka dot dress, red wide-brim hat and matching belt

This is another piece from the 80s I really like. I was and still am a huge fan of polka dots. They’re so feminine and pretty. I love the way she is wearing this piece. The accessories take the outfit to a whole new level. It is simple but effortlessly chic.

I am happy to see current trends being hugely influenced by the 80s fashion. The big shoulders are somewhat back, the underwear as outerwear trend is really back and so is the oversized jewellery look.

What do you think of the 80s fashion? Are you a fan?
