Whilst exploring the beautiful city of Sheffield in the summer holidays, we stumbled upon The Millennium Gallery. It was a beauty to behold. The Millennium Gallery is an art museum in the city centre of Sheffield. It was opened in April 2001 as part of the big Sheffield’s Heart of the City project, and it is managed by Museum Sheffield. This museum is right next to the Winter Garden in Sheffield and it is free to enter. We spent about 45 minutes going from room to room exploring the history and art. The kids enjoyed exploring the gallery, there was so much to see and photograph. I can see why it was listed as the 15th most-visited free attraction in the country by Visit England.
Millennium Gallery Sheffield
There are so many things to see in the Millennium Gallery. Ruskin Collection caught my attention the most. It is a collection of watercolours, drawings, prints, plaster casts, minerals, illustrated books, manuscripts and coins. I could look at them all day. The collection is so beautiful. You can also find special exhibitions, craft and design, metalwork collection. There are also cafes and shops available to grab souvenirs and a hot drink with a snack. It is definitely a great venue to visit if you are in Sheffield city centre and you are into arts and exhibitions.
Photography was no allowed in most of the exhibitions so I didn’t take as many photos as I would have liked. I will definitely be visiting Millennium Gallery again when next I have the opportunity to visit Sheffield. It is a lovely place indeed.

I love visiting them too!
I always think an art gallery would be boring for kids but love that this has interactive things for them to do
This one was very interactive and we didn’t stay too long.
I love museums for taking children, they have such a variety of displays to keep them occupied and it’s a great way of learning
Yes it is.
