When it comes to getting up and heading off to a new land – albeit for only a week or two – there are a bunch of things that come into play. You need to have every formality handled, you need to be mentally prepared, and you need to make sure everything is packed. There are many other factors that come into play, but those three are pretty significant for holidaymakers and travellers alike.

The point about packing is and will always be one of the most important issues for someone travelling to another part of the world. It can be quite a tedious affair, and you can be left annoyed if you don’t get everything right. Packing and making sure you’ve taken what you need is one thing, but the process of hauling it all around for miles and miles isn’t something everyone enjoys either. It’s all worth it when you reach the destination, but shifting the luggage around isn’t fun, right?

Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be as grueling as perhaps you might think. There are a few little tricks you can do to lower the strain on this particular workout. Here are a few ideas for you:

Plan Your Routes Out Beforehand

If you know where you’re going, then you don’t have to worry about going the long way round when it comes to finding wherever it is you’re staying (or heading to next). Knowing a few shortcuts or being able to get to where you want to without hesitating is always going to be a bonus. Also, look at public transport routes as they’ll do you a huge favor – anything that means less carrying for you would be delightful.

Don’t Pack Impulsively

The more you have in your small or large cases will determine how difficult the journey will be, of course. If you have lots of essentials, then, by all means, pack them. If you’re feeling a little generous and want a few more luxury items on board, perhaps you should rethink and double-check what you’re doing. Sometimes a few things can stay at home!

Look For Something That’s Nice On The Hands

When it comes to actually bringing in a suitcase to carry your items in, perhaps you should look at the ergonomic value of it. Something that costs very little or something that looks nice might work for you, but the novelty might wear off quickly when you realize that it’s not helping your poor fingers or spine.

Find A Place To Store!

You don’t have to carry your luggage absolutely everywhere you go. Fortunately, there are places in big towns and cities alike that will take your stuff and store it for a reasonable fee. Places like stasher have properties scattered all over the place, and that will absolutely help you if ever you feel you need a rest!

Build Up A Little Strength!

We’ll end on this small point. It’s something that will be able to help you with these particular issues, but it’s also something that can serve you well going forward, too. If you make yourself a little stronger than you are now, then you’re going to handle this kind of physical challenge a little easier. You’ll be mentally prepared for it a little better, too!

New and Improved Bucket Lists

*Collaborative post.

The ongoing coronavirus situation has affected just about every facet of modern life. It’s made things that were commonplace unthinkable, and things that were unthinkable commonplace – and it’s done so in a matter of months.

One of the casualties of this period of change is the concept of a bucket-list. What fun is there in composing a list of things that you’re not going to be allowed to do for months?

Travel restrictions have brought the global tourism industry to a standstill. But the change probably runs deeper than that: we’ve all been given time to reflect on what’s important in life and what isn’t, and the likelihood is that this will effect our travel decisions long after the situation has cleared up, and some semblance of normality has reasserted itself.

So how might the bucket lists of the future look different?

Domestic Travel

The gradual easing of the lockdown restrictions will come in many stages – and some countries will doubtless progress faster than others. It’s certain that we’ll be free to move within the country before we’re able to move outside of it, and thus the next holiday you go on will almost certainly be a domestic break. This shouldn’t be viewed as a drawback: the United Kingdom is packed with gorgeous tourist attractions. You might visit a Cornish beach in August, or go on a hike through the Highlands of Scotland.

Any bucket list should account for what’s local and available – after all, you can pack in dozens of domestic trips for the same cost of one that takes you to the other side of the planet.

Environmental Concerns

A related issue is the environmental cost of long-haul flights. The lapse in global travel has caused a huge drop in global emissions – which many of us will be unwilling to contribute toward reversing.

One-off holidaymakers aren’t, on the scale of things, the worst producers of carbon emissions: most air miles are actually racked up by a minority of frequent fliers, and so we shouldn’t beat ourselves up too much over our flying habits. With that said, any step you can take to reduce your personal environmental impact is surely going to be a worthwhile one. A train from Brighton to Portsmouth Harbour will allow you to see just as much as a plane to somewhere more exotic – and at a fraction of the environmental cost!

Great places to visit in London

*Collaborative post.

We explored the city of London earlier this year and the kiddies loved it. London is a regular holiday destination for us as we lived there before and we have lots of family and friends around the city. The city is full of life and I love exploring all that it brings. It is too much of a busy city for me to live in but holidaying there works great as there are lots to see and do. Plus getting there is easy for us as we love a good old train ride every now and again. There is a quick train to Gatwick airport to London Victoria, so we can easily get  to the city of fun.

If you are thinking of exploring London, here are some great places to visit in London –

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is one place to visit when you are exploring London City. We visited Buckingham Palace this April and we loved it. It was fun to see the palace up close and the guards were fun to watch as well. The kiddies love it but were disappointed they didn’t get to see the Queen 😊

Get on a London Bus

Getting on a London Tour Bus is great for those visiting the city for the first time. The buses take you round the popular spots in the city and tell you all about the history behind every tourist attraction. It is a nice way to see the city but if you can’t get on any of the tour buses, you can easily see some parts of the city by popping on a regular London bus. That is what we did after exploring Buckingham Palace. We got a London Bus from the city centre and that took us to a different side of London.

The twins loved it as they were reading about London school and were thrilled to get on a London Red Bus. The best part for them was sitting on the top deck. That was the highlight of the day for them. Kids do love the littlest things.

Big Ben

Big Ben was a must for us too as the kiddies have read about it and wanted to see it in real life. Our tour of the city was more of an educational tour. It was based on all what they have read about London at school and it was fun for us the grownups to see the city through their eyes. The view was perfect. Big Ben is definitely a spot to explore if you plan on being around the area.

London Eye

I loved our time in the London Eye. It was a lot of fun and I cannot wait to get on it again. London Eye is definitely a must if you want to really be a tourist in London. It is worth visiting for sure.

Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds is another great spot in London to visit. The wax museum is filled up with popular faces and the kids (especially my daughter) love taking photos with them.

What do you think of these great places to visit in London? Have you been to any of them before?
