Declutter your wardrobe

The first thing to do when trying to establish your personal style is to take a good look at what you have already in your wardrobe. Look at all your pieces and accessories and decide on what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of. Once you have decided on items you want to keep, the next step is to see which items go well together and which items would fit into the personal style you have in mind. Once this is done, you will most definitely have new gaps in your wardrobe you would need to fill.

Create a mood board and go shopping

Once you find the gaps that need filling, the next step is to go shopping to fill those gaps. You have a personal style in mind already, so you need to have that in mind while you are out shopping. It would be pointless to buy an item that doesn’t fit into the personal style theme, so staying focused is very important. Creating a mood board before you go shopping would be a great idea because it allows you create different looks and gives you many ideas on the sort of clothing and accessories to shop for. Having this mood board on your phone as you shop is great. If you are an online shopper like me, this would be very easy to work with.

  1. Yes personal style is important. I was told my style was whimsical just recently which made me smile.

Even when I’m doing conservative (not often) there is always a quirky piece involved whether it be the accessories or the hemline of a dress being different.

It’s not changed much as I’ve got older. Certain peices I wouldn’t wear now or I would tone down a bit more with what I wore with it.

You have to own your style and walk with confidence with it. If you don’t it won’t work. Style makes you. I love Pinterest for saving ideas
