Charity of the Month: St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice

The charity for the month of October is St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice. This hospice has a skilled team consisting of nurses, therapists social workers, benefits advisers, counsellors, befrienders and a Spiritual Care and Chaplaincy team. It was set up in 1988 and it has been providing palliative care which goes beyond the scope and the finding of the NHS.

I got to hear about St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice some days ago from their fundraising team, and a quick look on their website told me all I needed to know. This charity is mainly funded by donations; about 85% of the care is funded by charity donations from the community and all the services provided by the hospice are free for the patients and their families.

During a typical 24 hours at the Hospice our staff will support around thirty local people and their families through a range of services including complementary therapies, one to one care and bereavement support – St Luke’s Hospice.
