Tips for How to Care for Your Rolex Watch

*Collaborative post.

Rolex is an iconic and highly respected watch brand globally. It has been a part of the Swiss watchmaking industry since 1905. Rolex is well known for its quality, precision, and innovation. The brand is so synonymous with quality that many people refer to luxury watches in general as “Rolex watches.” The brand has a wide selection of watches for men and women, including the GMT Master II and the Sea-Dweller. However, Rolex watches are not automatic. Nor are they cheap. They cost thousands of dollars. So how can you care for a Rolex watch?

Here are five tips to keep your Rolex in mint condition.

Keep it clean

Keep your Rolex clean. If you don’t clean your Rolex regularly, it will start to wear down. And once the watch is dusty or covered in grease, it isn’t easy to clean and restore it to like-new condition.

To clean your Rolex, take it off and hand wash it in mild soap with a soft toothbrush or a toothpick. Then let it dry before storing it in a clean, dry place.

Don’t store it in a humid environment.

Humidity can cause watches to corrode. If you don’t wear your Rolex often, store it in a Low-Humidity environment. Humidity can also cause your Rolex to rust. That’s because the humidity is high in iron content. If you’re in a high humidity area, like Florida or a coastal area, protect your Rolex from moisture and salt air.

Don’t scratch the crystal.

For your Rolex to retain its value, there’s a good chance that you’ve already scratched the crystal. If you haven’t taken care of your Rolex, you may have accidentally hit the crystal when removing it from the watch. Or perhaps you’ve been carrying your Rolex in your pocket with curved edges.

Either way, crystals are very delicate and can easily be scratched. If you’ve already scratched the crystal on your Rolex, don’t panic! You can apply alcohol to a cotton swab to temporarily remove tarnish. Then apply a clear coat to protect the crystal.

Don’t subject it to extreme temperatures.

When you’re not wearing your Rolex watch, don’t store it in your trunk or leave it in your car’s glove compartment. Instead, store it in a safe place such as a drawer at home or in a watch box.

Also, make sure you don’t throw your Rolex in with your winter coats. Instead, store it in a convenient place where you can easily access it. And don’t put your Rolex in a plastic bag or wrap it up in a towel. Instead, keep it in a normal, dry spot.

Make sure you have a warranty.

A warranty will ensure that if your Rolex should develop a problem, the manufacturer will repair or replace it. And if you break the crystal on your Rolex, the warranty will cover you (for six years or 100,000 miles), and you won’t even have to pay for the repair! If you have a question about how to care for your Rolex, contact the manufacturer at (800) 330-0500 for assistance.

Your Rolex is a very important part of your persona. So it’s important to take care of it. The above tips will help keep your Rolex watch intact and avoid the expense of repairs and replacement.
