4 Ways to Care for your Afro Natural Hair
Keep your hair hydrated
The natural hair loves and needs water to thrive. This is why it is so important to keep the hair hydrated everyday. It is easier to do this with a spray bottle. My bottle contains 80% water and 20% oil, and I keep my hair hydrated with this mix. On most days, I spray my hair at least twice and my hair stays moisturised, soft and hydrated. If your natural hair is dry and difficult to manage, you will find it a lot easier to style if you keep it hydrated on a daily basis.
Use protective styles
Most protective styles look great and they also help give your hair a break. The last thing you would want is combing your hair everyday. That puts a lot pressure on the day, which can lead to hair breakage. Having your hair in a protective style allows the hair grow faster. All you need to do is to ensure you are keeping the hair hydrated even while in a protective style.
Only natural products
I personally stay away from products with artificial ingredients. Although most natural products are a lot more expensive than artificial products, natural products are better for my hair. I cannot imagine using artificial products now that I know how harmful they can be to the hair. If possible, opt for only natural products.
No heat
I haven’t used heat on my hair in years and I love how healthy and long my hair is. Excess heat damages the hair. If you have to use heat, do use it sparingly.
