Duchess of Cambridge Covers British Vogue June 2016

We have royalty on a magazine cover this month. The elegant Duchess of Cambridge, is on the cover of British Vogue for June 2016, and she is looking beautiful as always.

This is a very different cover from Vogue. I must confess I was expecting to see another supermodel, so seeing the Duchess on the cover was a pleasant surprise. This is the first magazine shoot, she has ever consented to and I am not surprised she agreed to do Vogue. The Princess of Wales, Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother, and the Queen have all been photographed by the Vogue team over the past 100 years. Also, Princess Diana appeared on the cover of British Vogue in 1994, so it kind of answers why she decided to appear on Vogue. Following in their footsteps I guess.

“It’s a huge honour and incredibly exciting for us to have HRH The Duchess of Cambridge featuring on the cover of British Vogue and as part of our centenary issue,” Vogue editor-in-chief Alexandra Shulman said today. “For me personally it has been a wonderful experience to have had the opportunity to work with her on this, and I am immensely proud of what we have produced. This special issue of the magazine is very close to my heart as it had to reflect on 100 years of British Vogue, and so I am hugely grateful that we have been able to continue with our tradition of outstanding royal portraiture with these pictures.”

I love the fact that the Duchess of Cambridge is dressed casually in these photos photographed by Josh Olins. She looks like an everyday girl next door, which I find refreshing. I love her hair a lot. I think she can give Jennifer Aniston a run for her hair money any day. I haven’t bought a Vogue in a while so I can see myself buying this issue. What are your thoughts? Will you be buying?

I am really looking forward to working with her on ideas.”

“We are absolutely thrilled at Kate’s appointment,” said Sarah Doukas, founder of Storm Models, which represents Moss. “This is a natural development in her remarkable career. Bringing her unique sense of style and creative sensibility to Vogue is the perfect fit. She is the definitive Vogue cover girl.”

Congrats Kate.

John Galliano Returns to Fashion

John Galliano returns to fashion at Oscar de la Renta. This was announced today. The designer was sacked at Christian Dior after his antisemitic outbursts at a Parisian cafe in March 2011. He is expected to unveil his new collection at New York fashion week in Febuary 2013.

“I am grateful to Oscar beyond words for inviting me to spend time with him in the familiar surroundings of a design studio,” Galliano said. “His support and faith in me is humbling.”

British Vogue’s editor Alexandra Shulman offered her support for Galliano’s return. “Oscar de la Renta is the king of uptown style and John Galliano the prince of romantic glamour, so it should be a magical match,” she said. “I am delighted John’s returning to fashion.”

Welcome back John Galliano.
