Feeling good in your outfits is such a great feeling. However, that feeling is not attainable every day or for those who lack style inspiration.

Choose comfortable materials

There is no worse feeling than looking good in your outfit yet it just isn’t comfortable. Therefore, it is a good idea to choose materials that are comfortable. These will make you feel your best, no matter how stylish, formal, or relaxed your outfit choice is.

For example, choosing a cashmere piece is ideal if you want to look stylish yet stay comfortable and warm.

Dress for your body type

You might not be feeling great in your outfits because you are not dressing for your body type. Dressing according to your shape and size will make you feel and look your best.

Some tips include:

  • Wear loose-fitting pants with bigger legs. Being blessed with big thighs is an amazing thing yet it can make trousers hard to find, especially flattering ones. Therefore, think about wearing looser fitter pants.
  • Shorter tops. Should you have a longer top half or a small waist and larger hips, shorter tops are much more flattering. It doesn’t have to be a crop top but choosing a short blouse over a longline one will flatter your shape more.
Don’t forget to accessorise

You might lack excitement for your outfits due to a lack of accessories. Therefore, always remember to accessorise. Simply adding a necklace or killer pair of earrings can make you feel amazing.

Accessories can say a lot about someone and more often than not, are worn to suit an occasion. Therefore, you can have an array of various accessories to switch up depending on the occasion you are attending. That way, you can make your outfits feel more special and suitable depending on where you are going.

Have fun with colour

If you have fallen out of love with your clothes, look in your wardrobe and see if they lack colour. Some people simply enjoy wearing colour and some don’t. You might be someone that needs more colour in their life. Therefore, have fun with colour to make yourself always feel good in your clothes.

Some people suit certain colours. Therefore, finding a colour that complements you well will make you love what you see in the mirror.

Dress for the weather

You can easily feel uncomfortable in your outfits if you are too cold or too hot. Overheating in a large coat is not fun, nor is freezing with the wrong pair of shoes on. Therefore, always make sure to dress for the weather.

Always check the weather before you get dressed so that you know you will feel comfortable yet stylish all day long.

Style tips for when you are on the job

When it comes to an office environment, it is very important to get your outfit right. I remember how I dressed back in the day when I had an office based job. It is important to look smart and professional on all days, even on dress down days. You need to get the balance right – looking smart and comfortable while doing your job.

Here are some style tips you may find useful when you are on the job –

Add a touch of your company

At my last office based job, we had printed work shirts and silicone wristbands we wore to work regularly. They helped raise brand awareness and they looked really stylish. Clothing and accessories with your company information is a great way to support the business and it also creates a form of togetherness.

You can implement a touch of your company into your work attire. The easiest way to do this successfully is to add accessories with the company information in your outfit. For example, Lancaster Printing’s silicone wristbands are customisable and are a great way to get this right.

Dress to impress

When it comes an office setting, it is very important for you to dress to impress. Dress down days are no exceptions. My last office job was in a call centre in Manchester, and we had a very relaxed way of dressing. I always ensured I looked smart every day. I didn’t go into work in heels everyday but I made sure my clothes and accessories were clean, smart and well put together. It amazes how I see many people dressing to work. Some come in wearing very tight miniskirts and cropped tops, which I think is just trashy. I have also seen many workers wearing ripped jeans or sky-high heels and being unable to walk in them.

Dressing to impress is a very important style tip for every office setting. We should all ensure we dress the way we want to be addressed.

Let your personality shine through

When it comes to fashion and style, I always advise anyone to stick to trends they like but you also need to remember you are in an office setting. So the trends you do like must be appropriate for the office. The fact that you are digging the ripped denim trend does that mean it is acceptable to wear them to the office.

When you wear pieces you are drawn to and style them in your own way, your personality would shine right through and it makes you stand out even more.

Invest in your pieces

You should spend a little bit more to ensure your office pieces stand the test of time. A classic skirt or trouser suit is worth investing a bit of money in. You would be spending more money on a great quality suit than you would spend on a great pair of jeans, so get your wallet ready. The better the fabric and lining of your piece, the more expensive it would be.

Styling A Casual Daywear Look

Casual does not mean scruffy. You are not meant to skimp on the quality of your casual daywear pieces as they serve a great purpose in your wardrobe. These days, I am usually in a causal daywear outfit. I haven’t gone partying in years (forgot what that’s about), so casual daywear pieces are all I am about most days of the week. It works for my lifestyle and I believe they are as stylish as other looks.

Here are a few style tips you should bear in mind when styling a casual daywear outfit.

Go for quality pieces

Like I said at the start of the post, casual does not mean scruffy. So ensure you go for quality pieces when shopping for or styling a casual daywear look. Cheap pieces do not stand the test of time, and they usually look cheap. It is best to spend a little bit more on clothes that would last more than 1 season.

Ensure you get a perfect fit

Casual does not mean you should go for oversize pieces. It is best to nail this look with the right size of garments. If you do like the oversized look, like oversize cardigans/jumpers, ensure you style them with belts and or skinny jeans/leggings to balance up the look.

Layers work

I love layering my pieces, especially with the British weather that is up and down. Layering is key when it comes to rocking a casual daywear look. Casual daywear is all about effortless style and layering nails this to a tee. A t-shirt or camisole under a blazer paired with a pair of jeans and scarf would look so stylish. A shirt underneath a waistcoat and jeans would work great too!

Ensure you have the right coat on this winter

A coat has the power to make you stand out for the right or wrong reasons. So it makes sense to pay special attention when picking one. Don’t mess up your look with a shapeless baggy coat. Get your winter coat in the right size and the right style for your outfit. A sleeveless jacket look trendy with a sweater.

Get your accessories right

Accessories have the power to make or break any look, so ensure you get your accessories right when styling a casual daywear look. Avoid wearing sparkly jewellery with your casual pieces. It would look too much. Keep your jewellery small and understated so you effortlessly chic.

Think Capsule

When shopping for your causal pieces, ensure you go with a shopping list of the pieces you need. Don’t just buy any piece you see. Shop for pieces you need to create various looks. A good way to go about this is to buy 3 colours for a good mix and match wardrobe. So black, white and khaki or blue, cream and khaki. Then you can include some colour into the mix with tops and accessories.
