Portugal Travel Diaries

Here are the final set of pictures from our half term trip to Algarve Portugal. We also visited Faro and Lagos. It was a fun relaxing trip. We had a great time and I wish I could go back and soak in some more sunshine. The weather in Cheshire has been dreadful lately. How is the weather where you are? This Cheshire weather is making me miss Algarve so much, but I will survive until my next sunny vacation.

While in Portugal, we decided to visit Lagos. We have heard so much about the city so we decided to make the most of our time there. Driving down to Lagos from Algarve. The kiddies always enjoy road trips as long as they are fed and have some form of entertainment. It took us around an hour to get Lagos, thanks to Google maps and our Enterprise rental car.

The city of Lagos was cool to see. I am happy I got great shots to treasure for life. I could clearly see the similarities between Lagos Portugal and Lagos Nigeria. It was a fun experience all around. We had the opportunity to walk around the centre of the city and soak in all it had to offer. The only issue we had was when the kiddies found a ride they wanted to get on, and us not having our wallets on us. That was the end of our sight seeing. Kids have the power like that….

Our ride back to Algarve was ok. Having said that, we found that many roads didn’t have street lights so they were really dark. Good M is an experienced driver and has driven in many countries. I won’t advise anyone who is not very confident driving to drive here as the roads can be very different with lots of roads and uncountable roundabouts. There was a roundabout on almost every single road we went on.

It was a short but fun trip. I know we will be visiting Portugal again in the future. Probably a different part of the country. I love exploring Europe. So far we have been to Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, Paris (a few times), Barcelona, Milan, Dublin, Edinburgh, and now I can add Algarve to the list of countries in Europe I have visited. I would love to visit the Scandinavian countries next, maybe that would happened for us next year. M has been to most of the Scandinavian countries I want to visit already because his work takes him all over the world. And he has only good things to say about them.

We spent our last evening at the Beach. It was quiet as most people had left already which was just what I needed. I am not a fan of crowded places, especially beaches and swimming pools. The Kiddies had fun posing for pictures, playing with sand and water. All I wanted to do was to walk around  and admire the beautiful beach. It was even more beautiful in the evening.

Half Term in Portugal Part 2

I wrote about our time in Portugal for the half term week yesterday and it has been well received. So I decided to publish the part 2 of our half term in Portugal post today. Portugal is a lovely country. We were in Algarve and also visited Lagos. Our trip was fun. We were in Portugal for 3 nights and the kiddies had a fantastic time exploring the beach, swimming pools and the Realito Kids Club.

Realito Kids Club

The kiddies had a great time at the Reality Kids Club. The workers were warm and pleasant to be around. They also engaged with the kids and kept them busy which was good. My daughter enjoyed colouring, playing with Lego and watching the staff dance to dance videos. My son was more interested in the toys and the outdoor slides. They both loved the kids club and it comes highly recommended by us. If your kids are over 3 years, you have the option of leaving if you wish which is handy for when you need some child-free time. We visited the Realito Kids Club twice and although we didn’t leave the kids, we saw many parents do.

There is also a table tennis section to keep the parents occupied. I saw a couple of parents doing that.

The Beach

We had a lovely time exploring the beautiful beach. The weather was great and beach was a sight to behold. My kids love playing at the beach. Building sand castles and dipping their legs into the water is their favourite thing to do. They also enjoy posing for photos, which I am always happy to take. I guess that is why I have so many photos from our trip. But there is never a thing like too many photos, especially when it comes to holidays.

The Swimming Pools

We had the opportunity to dip into the swimming pools. I spotted about 4 different outdoor pools in the entire hotel –  Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort & Hotel. And they were indoor pools available as well. We even had a private pool for our side of the resort which was usually not busy. I have never seen a hotel with these many swimming pools until I visited this one.

We had a blast swimming in warm afternoons. It was a great way to unwind, relax and bond as a family.

I still have quite a lot of photos to share. My plan is to write-up another post so I can include the rest of the photos on there. The photos serve as a reminder of our Portugal trip and I would love to have them all on Fashion and Style Police. For the next post, I will be sharing photos from our visit to Lagos Portugal, and other bits. The next travel post should be up in the next few days so watch this space.

Spending Half Term in Portugal

Hey peeps! How are we? We spent some days in the half term week in Portugal and it was a lovely trip. It was our first time in Portugal; we visited the lovely Algarve and it was magical, The weather was amazing, with lots of sunshine, which was just what we needed. Escaping the chilly autumn weather was a great decision. It was an impromptu trip and a surprise for the kids for half term, which was well received.

The flights were smooth with little stress from the kids. I was happy we didn’t have to deal with delays. We kept the kids well entertained throughout both flights with all sorts. I usually sort of dread the flights because I can never really know how the kids would behave but I was pleasantly surprised with this trip. The flight was 3 hours and it went by really quickly. It was a Jet2.com flight going to Portugal and an Easyjet flight flying back to Manchester Airport.

Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort and Hotel Spa

For accommodation, we had the lovely opportunity to stay at Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort and Hotel Spa. We were in the Resort section and it was really good. I love the fact that the apartment had enough space for 4 of us, with a living room, bedroom and kitchen. It is a 5 star Resort & Hotel and everything about the accommodation was indeed 5 star quality.

I Love Apartments

When it comes to holidays, I like going for hotels that come in form of mini apartments. Having a little kitchen with a hob, fridge, utensils, coffee machine, microwave and sink is very important. I like to cook little things for the kids while holidaying. It saves money and time, and I am sure they would have good meals, just incase they do not like what is being offered at the hotel.

This Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort and Hotel Spa ticked all the right boxes for me. It is definitely a hotel I would recommend. Checking in was very quick which was nice as we were already knackered from the flight. The house keeping lady was lovely and she did a great job cleaning our apartment and providing us with supplies.

Time off work

We had a great time exploring our new surroundings on our first day. It was such a beautiful place. We had a private pool for our side of the Resort and we had other pools in the hotel itself which we enjoyed too! It was a lovely relaxing holiday. I spent the time doing nothing as planned. All I focused on was the family, relaxing and getting good photos.

Going forward, I would make sure our holidays are like this. We took so many photos, I would need to write another post to show them all off.

Driving around the city

Algarve is truly a beautiful place. We rented a car from Enterprise, so we had the luxury of driving round the city and even to Lagos. The place reminded me of Lagos Nigeria.

Like I previously said, I have so many photos to share so instead of over adding too many photos to this post, I will be sharing a part 2 post with other photos in a few days.
