Smart Ways of Moving House

I am not a fan of moving. Moving house scares the life out of me, which is why I don’t move much. I have been in our current house for 5 years now, and I am loving it. They are many people like me who hate moving, but move we must every now and again. Moving house takes a lot of work, time, and effort. But there are smart ways of moving house. Here are ways you can go about it.

Decluttering the home image

Get rid of the clutter

Clutter and moving house do not work. The last thing you need is to take junk with you to your new home. So you need to get rid of the clutter before you move house. Anything you have not used in a year needs to go. The same applies to anything you don’t need at your new house. You won’t want a new place looking crowded from day 1. It also saves time, money, and effort getting rid of the clutter instead of taking the junk with you.

Hire a moving company

I have never hired a moving company for a house move before but my sister did last year, and she swears by them. She was heavily pregnant during the house move, and the last thing she needed was the stress of moving boxes about. The moving company sorted out the entire move for her. It was a stress-free process, and I know I would be hiring a moving company for my next house move regardless of the cost.

Stress-free life and peace of mind are so important and we all know how stressful relocating can be. This is why it makes so much sense to hire professionals to sort out the move for you and take the pressure off. Keep the kids busy

Keep the kids busy if you have any. You can get them involved in the move by giving them small chores to handle. If they are too young to help out, you can keep them entertained in the best way you know how, while the move is going on. The last thing you will need when moving is a child running or being a distraction.

Keep your important stuff

Remember to keep the important items safe. So purses, keys, phones, and anything you will be needing should be in a cross-body bag on you. That way you don’t forget or drop them.

Take it easy

Don’t be too hard on yourself while moving. You don’t need your new house looking all arranged within 24 hours. It is completely normal for everything to be upside down for some days while you settle down. No house move really goes as planned and no house mover is perfect, so don’t be too hard on yourself.

Read your meter

I worked in customer service for an energy company for 4 years. So I know how important it is to get a meter reading before moving. Taking a meter read should be the last thing you do before driving off. I recommend taking a picture, that way there is no confusion between yourself and the new occupants.
