How to Quickly Pack for an Overnight Trip

Do you get overwhelmed when it comes to packing for a trip? Do you tend to over-pack? Or pack things you won’t even use on the trip?

I think we’ve all had our fair share of packing woes. And whether you’re going for a day’s trip or a month, it’s good to learn how to pack smart. As always, I put together some handy tips that will help you quickly pack for an overnight trip.

Get the details straight

Before you start packing for your trip, you need to get the basic details about your trip. Where are you traveling to? What are you planning to do during your trip? How’s the weather like in the place you’re traveling to?

These details will help you pack with the right decision on what exactly you should pack with you. It will be extremely helpful to make a checklist of the possible things you’d need as you get the details of your trip straight. The checklist will also be handy when you’re going to pack to travel back home so you’ll have all your things intact.

Pack according to outfits

Now that you have a clearer picture of what you’ll be doing on your trip and the weather, the next step is to put together outfits that will match the weather and the occasion. A good trick is to pack clothes of neural colours that you can mix and match with the outfits you’ll bring along.

For an overnight trip, stick to the basics like a pair of jeans, a top or blouse depending on the occasion and a sweater just in case you get cold. Of course, if you’re staying over for the night, then make sure you pack some pajamas.

Don’t forget your essentials

There are some key items you must have when you’re traveling no matter the occasion or destination – items like undergarments, toiletries, and personal care products, which include body cream, deodorant and your makeup.

In the rush of packing, these essentials are often forgotten and this can cause a lot of problem, if you leave them behind.

Put your electrical accessories together

Although these are essentials as well, I thought they deserved to be put in a category of their own. There’s nothing as upsetting as unintentionally leaving your phone charger behind when you’re on a trip.

While on your trip you may not get the chance to charge your phone, so make sure you also carry a power bank around just in case.

Keep each category into smaller bags or pouches

The last thing you want when you’re packing is to be disorganized. Disorganization can slow you down. Since we were able to outline the major class of items you need for an overnight trip, you should have smaller bags to categorize them.  Packing cubes are perfect for this purpose. But if you’re not able to get your hands on packing cubes, a small pouch or ziplock bags would do.

How to take your career to the next level

When you want to be able to push your career to the next level, it’s always important for you to take control of this. Your career won’t always get to the heights that you want it to, without you really being in the driving seat. Success doesn’t happen overnight or by accident. Instead, you have to be in charge and really push to get to where you want to be. Maybe you have a career in fashion that you want to build on, or another related creative field? Well, if you want to be a creative director, a CEO, or even start your own company, then you need to start to take to make that happen. So if you’re ready to really amp things up with your career, here’s what you can do.

  1. Plan Your Progression

To get yourself started, you need to have some kind of idea of what you want, where you’re going, or how you’re going to climb the ladder. A lot of the time, if you’re trying to get ahead and you have absolutely no idea of where you’re going, you have an issue. So, you need to know a rough idea of what you want to do, and where you want to be. Stick that at the top of the plan, and then work backwards through the steps that you need to take or go through in order to get there – and how long this is going to take.

  1. Increase Your Level

Now, as you’re doing that, you may find that you need to be able to learn a little more. Maybe you want to teach design or writing? Then you may need to look at an online masters in education to be able to do that. Or maybe you want to be a fashion or creative company CEO? Then it could be that doing an MBA is going to give you the skills you need to get to a senior level in your field.

  1. Build A Side Business

Another great idea here, is to think about building a business for yourself. When you come up with a side business idea that can boost your career, it can often give you the skills and experiences you need to get to where you want to be. Or, if you want to have your own business, then starting it on the side is the best way to get it off the ground and start moving forward with that part of your career.

  1. Get Innovative

Now, whether you’re someone who’s self-employed and already running your own thing, or you’re climbing the career ladder and you want to keep doing that, innovation can help you. For someone that wants a promotion, to make a difference in their job, or to who wants to grow their business to new-level heights, thinking outside of the box when it comes to creativity and ideas matters. If you can come up with that killer campaign, new product idea, or a better way of operating, and it makes money, you’re going to reap the rewards. Whether this is financially n your own business, or in the form of recognition or a promotion in the company that you work for.

How are you planning to take your career to the next level?

Tips for a Healthy Summer

This is definitely the hottest summer I have ever experienced in the UK. It has been a very warm summer. And it doesn’t feel like it is going to be cooling down anytime soon. Is it warm where you are? On some days I like the warmth (when it is not dead hot) and on some days I don’t. I can’t seem to make up my mind on whether this summer is fun or not, thanks to the unbearable heat. To ensure you enjoy the most of what summer has to offer, here are 5 tips for a healthy summer –

Drink plenty of fluids and infuse your water

I have drinking plenty of ice-cold fluids because I won’t be able to go on without doing so. Drinking plenty of fluids is a smart way to stay hydrated. I am always with a water bottle. I can easily get carried away with work and all, and go hours without having a drink. But having water with me at all times reminds me to drink.

Another smart to get yourself to drink more water is to infuse the water with flavour. You can infuse with limes, lemons, oranges, berries, or cucumbers, to make a refreshing taste. It is a great way to drink more water if you are not a fan of drinking water. If I had my way, I would drink soft drinks all day, but thanks to infusing my water, I get to drink more water.

Duralex Picardie Clear Water Tumbler Summer Healthy Image

I recently got these Duralex Oicardie Clear 6 Tumbler Set some weeks ago. And I know it sounds cheesy but I love drinking in them. They are so pretty. This set of six Duralex Picardie Tumblers is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can grab at a set at John Lewis, Selfridges, Ocado, Habitat and other stores for £8.

Apply Sunscreen and wear weather appropriate clothing

The last thing you would need this summer is a sun burn. So ensure you apply your sunscreen regularly. Staying out of the sun when it is dead warm is best. I still see a lot of people having picnics and tanning in this weather and I really don’t get it. Having a picnic when it is dead warm makes no sense. I rather eat indoors thank you.

Wearing weather appropriate clothing also ensures comfort at all times. I recently stocked my wardrobe with hats, sunglasses, shorts and camisoles, and I am enjoying styling them. Minimal clothing is what this weather needs.

Make the most of the sunshine

It is easy to moan and whine about how terribly warm the weather is at the moment. But whenever I remember the Beast of the East, and how horribly cold and long last winter was, I appreciate how much the sun is shinning. Summer is a beautiful season and I plan to make the most of it with the family.

How are you coping in this weather? Do you have any tips for a healthy summer to share? Please sound off in the comments section below.

Thanks for reading. Have a lovely weekend.
