Charity of the Month: Sistah Space

The charity of the month this August is the one and only Sistah Space. I have been following the amazing work of this charity for many months after reading about the team in a book on coercive control, and I am happy to finally feature Sistah Space. For those who have never heard about Sistah Space, it is a charity that works with African and Caribbean women and girls who are victims of domestic violence or who know people who have experienced domestic violence.

Sistah Space provides advice and support to victims of domestic violence. The charity also provides practical help by providing hygiene products such as sanitary pads, panties, bras, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps and other essentials.

Charity of the Month – Sistah Space

This charity was founded in November 2015. It is a community-based non profit initiative set up to bridge the gap in domestic abise services for African heritage women and girls.

The Mission of the Charity

Our mission is to encourage African heritage survivors/victims to report abuse by providing a safe cultural venue for victims to disclose abuse in a confidential environment, and to encourage community integration.

It is always great to see a domestic violence charity dedicated to women from black and minority ethnic groups. Sistah Space is doing an amazing job by providing a safe place for women to come in and speak up. Many women are suffering in silence, this is why it is so important to talk about issues openly, so that does who need support can access them safely.

How to support Sistah Space

You can donate to the charity. No amount is too small and every little helps. To donate, click here. Also, fundraising is a great way to support the charity. You can find out more info on fundraising, click here.
