Staying sane in the midst of chaos

This year has been a rollercoaster for all of us. It has been up and down pretty much from January and the chaos is just getting louder and louder. Many people are struggling and I can literally feel the tension in the air. It is important to stay on top of our mental and physical health. This is not the time to bury our heads in the sand. Staying sane in the midst of chaos takes a lot of willpower and determination. You have to be ready to fight for your peace or else everyone else will drag you into their drama.

Staying sane in the midst of chaos

Here are some ways to help you stay sane in the midst of the madness going on –

Limit your time on social media

I have to spend some time on social media because of my job but these days, I limit the time I spend on the platforms. Social media is a huge drain right now, especially Twitter. There are all sorts of things going on at the same time all over the world. It is exhausting to be online nowadays.

Switch off the news

I don’t watch the news and haven’t done so for years. If you watch the news and you find that you are struggling, I would say you should take some days off and see how you feel. I usually pick up important info on social media and that is good enough for me.

Listen to soothing music

Music is like food to my soul. I am forever listening to my Spotify playlists. My current favourite tracks are Enya’s. I love her voice and style so much.

Workout

I start my day with a good 30-minute workout session. It prepares me for the day ahead and keeps me feeling great.  I would be lost without my workout sessions.

Do something for you every day

With everything going, it is super easy to put ourselves last and be busy worrying about everything and everyone. It is important to do something nice for yourself on a daily basis. It could be something as small as reading a book, watching a nice movie, going for a long walk, or as big as buying that new handbag you have had your eyes on for months now. The choice is yours. It doesn’t matter what it is, the important thing is that it is something that feels like a treat.

Having a good reputation as a freelancer can help you to win over the trust of new customers. There are lots of ways to develop a good reputation. Here are just a few ways to give your reputation a boost.

Create an exciting portfolio

Proving a portfolio of your work allows potential customers to see evidence of work you’ve done and get an idea of the quality that they can expect. This could be a portfolio of written pieces if you’re a writer, photographs of cakes if you’re a baker or images of designs you’ve done if you’re a designer. This portfolio could be available as a physical book that you show to customers or it could take the form of a website – you should decide what is the best form based on how you attract most of your clients.

Collect testimonials and positive reviews

You can also boost your reputation by collecting evidence of positive feedback from past customers. Testimonials tend to be pieces of private feedback that you then have the choice to make public. Positive reviews are pieces of positive feedback that you have no part in moderating. You should aim to encourage more positive reviews than negative reviews – this can be done by asking all happy customers to leave reviews, while making a point not to ask unhappy customers.

Build followers and endorsements on social media

Social media has become a useful platform for freelancers wanting to attract new customers. Having lots of followers and endorsements can help you to look more established and trusted. These can be accumulated by asking friends, family and all professional associates to follow and endorse you, as well as encouraging all you customers to follow and endorse you. Buying followers is an option, but this is not recommended due to being dishonest and not always convincing.

Improve your qualifications

Having qualifications can help to provide evidence that you are an expert in your field. For instance, if you run an IT consulting business, it could benefit you to take a Master of IT Leadership online. You can add qualification badges to your website. On top of formal qualifications, you could try seeking out business awards or achieving extra licenses to show off on your site.

Show off your expertise with a blog

Starting a blog can be a great way of boosting your reputation by giving you a platform for showing off your expertise. People largely read blogs to seek advice – you may be able to appeal to customers in your industry by offering related advice. For instance, a freelance realtor could consider blog posts on applying to mortgages, improving the value of one’s home or finding a reliable moving company. On top of writing a blog, you could consider starting a vlog – this involves creating videos. These video could be embedded on your site and could similarly be used to give advice and demonstrate your expertise.

Marilyn Monroe’s Shoe Secrets

Marilyn Monroe was and still is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to beauty and fashion. Her sense of fashion is a huge inspiration. I love reading about her. I recently came across Marilyn Monroe’s shoe secrets and I find them really interesting. Monroe’s favourite shoe designer was Salvatore Ferragamo (the luxury Italian designer); she had over 40 pairs, so she was definitely a huge fan. And who would blame her? A good pair of heels is every woman’s best friend. Heels can completely step up our style game. They add instant glamour, lengthen the legs and take the whole look to another level.

Marilyn Monroe’s Shoe Secrets

Here are some of Monroe’s shoe secrets –

Find a shoe designer you like and stick with the designer

Well, we all know she adored Salvatore Ferragamo’s shoes and had loads of them. It is great to find a shoe designer whose styles work well for you. I wouldn’t say I have a favourite shoe designer. I wear shoes from different designers but I do love Kurt Geiger shoes a lot. KG shoes always attract me. Do you have a favourite shoe designer?

Wear flesh-coloured shoes with flesh-coloured tights

This is another great tip. Wearing flesh-coloured shoes with flesh-coloured tights lengthens the legs. Different shades break up the line and make your legs appear shorter, which is the last thing any woman wants.

If you can’t walk in heels, do the wriggly walk

Now this is one of Monroe’s shoe secrets she never admitted but the word on the street was that she couldn’t walk in high heels, so she did the wriggly walk. Apparently, every time Marilyn took a step, she wobbled on her ankles, which led to the wriggly walk. If you must wear heels and can’t walk in them, you may want to look into her wriggly walk.
