Content creating is fun for me. I enjoy publishing blogposts on Fashion and Style Police and videos on my YouTube Channel. I also enjoy regularly updating my social media pages. It is not a chore for me. It doesn’t feel like a job sometimes. I enjoyed creating content on the web long before I took it up as a career. When it comes to content creating, to stand out from the saturated market, you have to build your own identity. What does that even mean? It means you being unique; bringing something new to the table.
Here are 4 ways you can go about building your own identity as a content creator.
Just start
Many people never really start because they are afraid of failing or people laughing at them. I rather try and fail, than to not try at all because I will keep wondering what would have happened if I had just started. As for people laughing, let them laugh. If you keep at it and keep improving as you go along, they won’t be laughing for long. You may be laughing all the way to the bank instead.
Be yourself
To succeed as a content creator, you have to be yourself, everyone else is taken. You need to write about articles that resonate with you and those you have good knowledge about. So don’t blog about beauty and fashion, if you have no clue on how to properly apply makeup or put an outfit together. Don’t vlog about gaming, just because it is trendy on YouTube, if you have no real interest in it. It may take sometime but then the cracks will start to show and then you will have no creative content to publish.
Being yourself will help you thrive and you will find your own people that would love to read or watch whatever you create.
Don’t force creativity
Creativity is smashing together two ideas that have never been connected. It is not talent. It is a way of operating. Creativity is intelligence having fun. I got these definitions from a book I am currently reading – FLEX: The Modern Woman’s Handbook by Annie Auerbach and it explains the concept of creativity perfectly. Being creative should come naturally. It is not something you should have to force. If you have to force yourself to come up with blog posts and video content, then you are probably in the wrong job/hobby.
Follow your passions
You should follow your passions all the time. It is easy to tell when someone enjoys what they do. It literally shows on their faces, in the quality of content they produce and in their writing tone. If you want to succeed as a content creator, follow your passions and create content in line with your passions. That way everything you do will flow naturally.
