The Ultimate Guide to Packing up your Clothes for a Move

Moving house is great, until the time comes for you to sort through all of your clothes. You may think that it’s okay to just put them all in a suitcase and throw it in the back of your car. Although there is nothing wrong with this, it is a great way for you to have a ton of ironing to do when you arrive. If you want to pack up your clothes and fashionable accessories effectively then we’ve got you covered.

Lay Out your Clothes

Over the years, you may have accumulated clothes that you just don’t need anymore. One way

for you to get around this would be for you to put all of your clothes on the bed and only pick up the things that you have worn in the last 5-6 months. Sure, you may have some formal dresswear that you need to keep, but this is a great rule of thumb. If you need to decorate your new property, pack an old t-shirt as well. When you have done this, put your clothes into categories such as everyday wear and then clothes that you won’t need for a while. This will make it way easier for when you arrive at your new property because you can easily get changed without having to route through endless boxes.

Suitcases are Necessary

If you have a suitcase then use it! You’ll have to take it with you anyway and it is a brilliant way for you to stop getting your clothes all creased. You may want to put things like toiletries, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and shaving foam in this bag as well, as this will provide you with your essentials as soon as you arrive. When packing your clothes, you’ll get way more in the bag if you take your time and fold them properly. When you do this, you can easily have way more room left over at the end of the day and you can also really save yourself time in the future.

Fragile Items

If you are moving house with local movers then you won’t have to worry about this at all, but if you are moving yourself then you may need to put some of your more fragile items in the suitcase that you have. You can even use your clothes to wrap up some of your more delicate decorations as well. After all, when you are moving yourself, there is a high chance that you will experience some breakages along the way and this can help to stop all of that from happening. Your local movers however, will know exactly how to move your items to minimise breakages and they will probably have years of experience as well so you won’t have to worry about anything at all there.

So when moving your clothes, there are plenty of things that you can do to try to save yourself a lot of time and when you follow the above tips, you shouldn’t have a problem with your move at all.
