Charity of the Month – Refuge

I love the fact that I am able to support charities. It makes me feel empowered and as they say, every little really does help. One of the charities on my mind this month is Refuge. This charity supports women and children experiencing all sorts of violence and abuse. Refuge Charity tailors the support offered to suit each individual needs. They also offer a range of services like refuges, community-based projects, culturally-specific services, services for children and support for women going through the criminal justice system. I think it is an amazing charity doing great things to help women and children who find themselves in a violent/abusive environment.

Forms of Violence and Abuse

There are different types of violence and abuse experienced by women and children. Some are more obvious than others. This charity does offer specialist support to help women and children who may be experiencing some form of violence and abuse. Some of which include rape and sexual abuse, forced marriage, domestic violence, so-called ‘honour’-based violence, human trafficking and modern slavery, prostitution, and female genital mutilation (FGM) survivors.
