Outfit Post – Loving Summer Fashion

It feels like this summer has gone on forever. I started rocking my summer pieces since April this year. The heat wave has been on and off since then and it feels like this has this has been the longest summer ever. It is definitely the longest summer I have ever experienced in the UK. I am grateful I am able to wear a lot of my summer pieces. I hear the heat wave would be on and off until October, which is great new for summer lovers. Summer fashion has been giving me life this year and I am not in a hurry for that bit to go away. I am seriously loving the summer pieces in the stores and my outfit post category on Fashion and Style Police has been very busy.

I am wearing this stunning Rose Cami Strap Maxi Dress – Serenna. This beauty landed on my doorstep some weeks ago and it has been worn twice already! I love the design of the dress a lot. And I think the colour is really pretty too! Definitely a perfect piece for a cooler summer day. It was very easy to style and dead comfy too! It is one of those pieces you throw on when you can’t be bothered to think too much about accessories, because it goes with almost everything.

This stunning maxi dress features cami straps with a bodycon fit. The flattering body hugging style is right up my street. It is definitely a season must-have!

10 Summer Holiday Fashion Essentials for Mums

Mums have special needs when it comes to staying stylish in the summer. As a mum your outfit and accessories have to be functional especially when you’re out and about taking care of the kids. Considering the heatwave, picking the right outfits that are ideal for motherly duties can be tricky. Fortunately, there are a lot of versatile pieces that fit those criteria and are weather friendly. If you’re a mum, then these 10 summer holiday fashion essentials are just for you.

  1. Linen pieces

Linen is perfect for the heatwave so make linen your material for the summer. Pieces made from linen help to keep you cool despite the heat. Go for a pair of linen trousers and pair them with a simple blouse or t-shirt and remain cool throughout the day.

  1. Fitting shorts

Who says mums can’t wear shorts? Although the most popular shorts are either ripped or designed, it’s better to go for nice plain coloured fitting shorts. They are comfy and they go well with a fun slogan tee and a pair of sandals.

  1. Maxi dresses

Maxi dresses are a must-have this summer. There’s nothing as flattering as a lightweight and flowy maxi dress. It’s not only stylish and very feminine, it’s also perfect when you’re taking care of the kids.  Opt for polka dots, floral print or striped maxi dresses to add some fun and colour. Style the maxi dress with a classic wide-brimmed hat on those very sunny days and simple accessories to add some glam to the ensemble.

  1. Versatile t-shirts

Stock your closet with t-shirts that work with almost every bottom whether a pair of jeans, shorts or a flowy skirt. T-shirts usually require little or no thought. As a mum t-shirts make it really easy to put an outfit together especially when you’re busy looking after the kids.

  1. Sandals with straps

This summer you want to stay as comfortable as possible under the oppressive heat. Sandals will give you that extra comfort and also keep you cool and free. Sandals can come in different styles, but the most ideal pair for busy moms are the sandals with straps. That will make sure your sandals stay on all day.

  1. Statement earrings

Bold and fun earrings are wonderful for the summer. Go for earrings with bright colours and large beads or stones.  A rule of thumb when choosing your earrings is to select a pair that complements the colours of your outfit. So use your outfit to inspire your choice of earring.

  1. Lighter washed jeans

Jeans are a staple for every season. They go with almost any top, whether it’s a t-shirt or a blouse. However, make sure you go for lighter washed jeans. They are ideal for the hot weather. Avoid dark coloured jeans this summer as they attract more heat.

  1. Layer necklaces

Who says you should only wear one necklace on your outfits? Layering a short necklace over a longer one helps to give balance to your outfit. It looks elegant and keeps the vibe happy and fun. Perfect for the summer!

  1. Shopper tote

Although there are a lot of handbags, nothing adds to the summer vibe like the shopper tote bag. As a mum you have to have a bag that is able to fit toys for the kids, sunscreen and maybe some snacks for the kids. A shopper tote bag is able to keep all those things and more, plus it’s fashionable. Just the perfect bag for every mum.

  1. Tortoiseshell sunglasses

Tortoiseshell sunglasses are a classic and work well for mums. They not only shield your eyes from the rays of the sun, they are quite fashionable too. Irrespective of the shape of your face, tortoiseshell sunglasses suit every face. That makes them easy to just pick on your way out.

Frugal Fashionista: Save Money on Clothes This Summer

Summer fashion is a lot of fun, unlike during the colder months you can pretty much wear what you want and don’t need to worry about covering up to keep warm. The dresses, sandals, skirts and shorts all come back out, and you can enjoy bright colours and bold patterns that perhaps don’t work as well during the other seasons. However buying new clothes every season can be expensive, thankfully there are ways you can save money and still look a million dollars.

Buy Versatile Staples

If you buy versatile items that can be dressed up and dressed down, you’ll find that you always have something to wear. Whether you need something to wear at a wedding, a christening, your friend’s barbeque or date night with your partner, you’ll be able to adapt your outfits and feel like you have something unique to wear without having to buy lots of items.

Simple summer dresses work well here, team up with a blazer and heels for a smart summer evening look, and with sandals and a kimono for a casual daytime outfit. If you choose well, you can even wear some of these dresses into the autumn too, simply pair up with tights, boots and a cute leather jacket.

If you know you have lots of occasions coming up and don’t have the budget to be able to afford lots of new outfits then this is a great way round it. Purchase some inexpensive accessories to customise each look, for example some statement jewellery for evening, a couple of hats and some sunglasses for practical daytime accessories.

Check Out Charity Shopsr

If you’ve always turned your nose up to the idea of charity shops then it’s time to think again. Not only can you snag yourself some amazing items at bargain prices, but the money from everything you buy will be put to a good cause.

Sure, you probably won’t be able to find your whole summer wardrobe in here but they’re well worth taking a peek in every now and again. Chances are at some point you’ll find a fantastic item for far less than you’d pay full RRP. Often charity shop clothes are nearly new or have only ever been worn a few times, sometimes you can even find brand new things in there.

Host a Swap Party

All of us have clothes in our wardrobe that we don’t really wear. Perhaps they were impulse buys or maybe we didn’t try them on in store and when we got home realised they didn’t look good. For some reason or another maybe we didn’t get around to taking them back and they’ve sat collecting dust ever since.

Lots of us hold onto clothes with the intention of losing weight and wearing them again one day, or in the hopes that they’ll come back into style. Instead of them sitting around taking up space, why don’t you and your friends all grab the items you don’t wear and host a swap party? You can all have fun trying on different things, and you each might find a couple of pieces from the other’s closets that work far better on you.

How do you plan on saving money on your fashion pieces this summer.
