Spring/Summer 2021 Fashion Trends

The weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer, and spring is around the corner. I am looking forward to the spring season. There is something about the nice spring weather that puts me in a fantastic mood. I am also very excited about Spring/Summer 2021 Fashion Trends. The unexpected fashion trend at the moment is all about loungewear. Many of us are working and schooling at home, so loungewear is really all we need but we can add a bit more glam to this trend with the weather getting warmer.

Here are a few ideas for you to have in mind for Spring/Summer 2021 Fashion Trends:

The Black Dress

The black dress is always a good idea for spring and summer fashion. I love having a few stylish black dresses. They work great for video calls and they are super easy to style. The piece I am wearing here is from Miss Selfridge and it is still one of my favourite black dresses. It is very comfortable and easy to style for a casual day out. I love it.

Printed Spring Jacket

Prints are almost back in season and I am ready for it!  I am looking forward to wearing some more colourful pieces this spring. This stunning piece by Alala by Aken is one of my favourite print pieces. I love the colour and design. It is a fabulous light jacket to have around this spring/summer. I am looking forward to wearing more of it now that the warmer weather is around the corner.

Head scarf

This is one fashion trend I am really excited about. I have a couple of scarves in my wardrobe. They come in so handy for lazy hair days (which is really everyday now). I currently have eye on a few stylish scarves I am looking to get this season.  It is wonderful to know this fashion trend from the 50s and 60s is coming back in a big way this year.

Goodbye Fast Fashion! Back to Slow Fashion!

If this pandemic has taught us one thing related to fashion, it is that we don’t need half of the clothes we have in our wardrobes. With many people working from home and spending more indoors, clothes are just left in the wardrobes unworn. I really can’t remember the last time I really played dress up. It would have been something during the first half of the year before everything changed. I still don’t know when I will have a good reason to play dress up. Maybe just for the cameras, but definitely not for an event. I believe we have witnessed the death of fast fashion, at least for the next few years. It is now back to slow fashion.

What is slow fashion?

Going back to slow fashion simply means buying fewer clothes and accessories. This has been happening gradually over the years for most of us, but it is currently happening even more due to the current economic issues caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The fashion industry has a major waste issue. Many people buy more clothes and accessories than they need. Most of the items bought are hardly worn and just stay buried in wardrobes. Going back to slow fashion will put an end to this fashion waste. People will only buy what they need and make the most of what they do buy. There will be way more capsule wardrobes and conscious shoppers. In the long run, this change in shopping will help the environment massively and people will become more creative with their outfits. You can wear pieces in many different ways; going back to slow fashion will encourage more people to play around with their outfits more and recreate different looks.

I am keen to see how this slow fashion new way of life will work. It is great to be able to wear our pieces as often as possible in different ways than to just keep buying and buying. I believe those fast fashion days are gone for a bit. What do you think?

Fashion Pieces I am loving this spring

This spring has been unusually warm. We have had little or no rain these last few weeks, and since we are usually indoors thanks to the lockdown, I am only comfortable in light airy clothes. I have been busy doing some online shopping. The kiddies needed a few fashion items for home, so I took the golden opportunity to get some spring items for myself. I have literally been living in short, skirts, light spring trousers  and dresses. Anything else leaves me way too warm.

Here are some of the fashion pieces I am loving this spring –
