5 Tips for Great Indoor Blog Photos

I have written a couple of times on Photography and how to get your photos looking as stunning as possible. I am a sucker for beautiful photography. And with my 2 Canon cameras, iPhone and Samsung Galaxy phones, I try to take as many beautiful photos as I can. It can be tricky to take the right photos, especially in the winter season. But as a blogger, taking beautiful photos is a very important part of the job. It is a lot easier to edit the photos when the raw photos are looking great.

Here 5 tips for great indoor blog photos –

Get some natural light

Natural lighting is the best form of light you need for stunning. photography. If you need to take some blog photos indoors, get as close as you can to some natural light, so close to a window or open door.

An easy way of going about is to get an abundance of natural light into the room you intend to get your photos taken. Some ultra sky roof lanterns would be great for this. They ensure the room is naturally bright, which helps create great indoor photos.

Switch off the flash

I prefer taking photos without the flash. The flash usually ruins the look I want, with the flat and one-dimensional photos it creates. Switching off the flash and getting some natural light is the best option. If you are unable to get in some natural light, you could get some studio lightning kits to help create some professional looking photos.

Get some photo props

Photos props to enhance your photos. I got the white fluffy rug you see in a lot of my photos from IKEA, it was about £12. I also got loads of samples of wall papers from B&Q for free. I also use them as photo props. Magazines, wrapping papers and beautiful stands can also be used. I try to vary my photo props so all my blog photos do not look the same.

Be aware of your environment

Ensuring the background of your photo is looking is very important. You don’t want to spend all the time in the world editing on Photoshop, so ensure the background is looking the way you want and is free from clutter. Being aware of your environment will save you a lot of time and energy.

Check your camera setting and positioning

Ensure you always check your camera setting before you start taking your blog photos. You should be able to adjust your camera setting to suit your shooting conditions, so keep adjusting the settings until you are satisfied with the result. Also, check the positioning of your camera. Depending on what I am photographing, I like to put myself in a higher position (so I set up on a stool ) to take my indoor photos.
