Felicity Jones Covers Glamour Magazine January 2017

Say hello to the first Magazine cover with a 2017 date on it.

Felicity Jones is the cover girl for Glamour Magazine UK January 2017 issue and it looks promising.

I love this magazine cover. The up close shot is a beauty, and the hair and makeup looks amazing as well. I also like what she has on, it looks very colourful and pretty.

I have read excerpts of Felicity Jones’ interview on Glamour Website and I think this would be a fab read. Felicity chatted about her thoughts on feminism and equal pay, her Star Wars role and everything else in between.

Felicity on… being a feminist:

“I’ve always been a feminist, and what I love in my work is being able to explore a full-sided woman and not patronise her. Particularly with Jyn, it’s such a rare opportunity to be able to play a female who’s not just thinking about romantic relationships.”

 

I like the fact that she is a feminist. Her interview sounds very honest.

 

Felicity on… equal pay:

“I want to be paid fairly for the work that I’m doing. That’s what every woman around the world wants. We want to be paid on parity with a man in a similar position. And I think it’s important to talk about it… It’s brave of those women to come forward and make a point about it. Now younger actresses will have a confidence in those discussions with their agents and be able to say, “Can we make sure that I’m being paid the right amount for the work that I’m doing?””

 

I would never understand why anyone would think to pay men more money over women for the same job just because they are men. It makes no sense to me but it happens. I like the fact that more women are speaking about this equality pay issue.

I really like this cover as well. I would love to read about building a multi-million pound business.

I like the fact that Glamour is raising the bar very high by starting 2017 with 2 amazing magazine covers. I can’t wait to see what the other British magazines would come with now.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Her

Today is the last in November and there is no more time for procrastination. Christmas Day is in 25 days, so if you have not sorted your Christmas gifts, like many people I know, you are quickly running out of time and need to know get on it or join the many people running around like headless chickens on the 24th. Trust me, I have been there once upon a time and it was not fun. The pressure was unreal.

Christmas is one of my favourite seasons of the year so I like everything being organised. I love the buying of gifts, holiday mood, Christmas decor and songs. It gets me really excited. I have been listening to Boney M greatest hits on Spotify throughout this month already. My kids can even sing along to Little Drummer Boy!

Yes we love Christmas like that so hang in there with me, you are going to read a lot about Christmas and what I get up to this season on Fashion and Style Police.

I like this iPhone case. It comes in 3 colours as well and I am so in love with the rose gold case. I like the price as well. It is a lot cheaper than most stylish iPhone cases out there. It would make a great Christmas gift for the gadget lovers or that person you know without an iPhone case.

I like both sneakers and I would love to receive any of them as a Christmas gift this year. I think they are both really stylish and bang on trend! Definitely a stylish gift idea for a fashionista.

Alicia Keys Covers ELLE UK December 2016

Now this is one magazine cover I am completely in love with. It is definitely the best December 2016 cover.

I am a massive fan of Alicia Keys, and I am very delighted to see she is a cover girl for ELLE UK The Feminism Issue December 2016. I have not seen Alicia Keys on a UK magazine cover for a very long time. I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw her on one, so this issue is like a breath of fresh air.

Alicia Keys chats exclusively with ELLE UK about her family, being a feminist, and going makeup free.

 

On feminism:

‘Let’s look the definition up because I have in my mind what I feel it means.” Reading on her phone, she continues: ” ‘The advocacy of women’s rights on the ground of political, social and economic equality’ – so yes. Yes, I am a feminist, and whoever isn’t is crazy…It’s about owning your power, embracing your womanhood.’

 

I agree with the fact that any woman who isn’t a feminist based on the original definition here, is crazy. I even wrote about being a feminist some months ago. But the problem today is there are various definitions of a feminist, and various types too. I don’t agree with a bunch of them, I think they are just overly excited but I do agree with the original definition Keys read out here, and I wonder who wouldn’t!

On going make-up free:

‘It took me forever to get this skin. I mean, I know how it feels to have a face full of bumps and pimples. I lived through that in the public eye. But when I first got pregnant [six years ago with her son, Egypt] I started to eliminate dairy from my diet and drank a lot more water, which made a huge difference to my skin. Some have called this a crusade. Well, I died laughing at that. I use to feel the pressure to appear as the music industry expected, but I don’t now.’

I am so happy to know she is now very comfortable in her own skin. I am hoping I get to that level of comfort some day. It is a work-in-progress but I will get there eventually.

 

What do you think of this issue? I am yet to read it but I want to. It sounds like a fab read. I can see myself grabbing an issue this weekend before it leaves the newsstands.
