There are times when you have to style on a budget, but doesn’t mean that you can’t look like a million bucks. For as long as I can remember, there has been a huge misconception about dressing and making your clothes look expensive. How do we make clothes look expensive? Many ladies believe that they won’t look classy and expensive unless they buy really expensive clothing or accessories. I don’t blame them as looking expensive is usually associated with expensive brands.
I have done a lot of experimenting with my outfits, accessories and grooming, and I have discovered 6 ways you can make your clothes look expensive.
Develop a sophisticated carriage
I know that this tip will come as a surprise to you, but the way you wear your clothes plays a huge role in how expensive you look. If you wear your clothes and walk around with a slouch, no matter how expensive the clothes you put on are, you won’t look classy at all.
The secret is in the way you carry yourself. Walk with your head held high and full of confidence. Even with the simplest of all clothing can look very appealing if you wear it with an air of confidence.
Make your clothes look expensive with Accessories
The smallest item can make the biggest difference. If you want your clothes to look expensive, then you need to choose your accessories wisely.
Gold accessories can make any outfit look expensive. Pearl necklaces, earrings and bracelets have the same powerful effect. You can also put on large jewellery for that flattering look.
Go for black
Don’t under-estimate the power of the colour black. Black outfits are characterized as formal attire. Let’s face it, black looks expensive, whether you wear a black dress, black skirt or a black blouse.
The best thing about black is that it is simple and it goes with anything. It also enhances the beauty of your accessories against the black. So if you wear anything black, you can never go wrong.
Stick to classic pieces
Sometimes we get carried away thinking that looking expensive means wearing more clothes than usual. The truth is that you don’t need to go too far or think too hard to look expensive.
Classic pieces like a collared blouse tucked in a black pencil skirt or a maxi dress in a pastel colour can make you look expensive.
Have your clothes tailored
Not every outfit comes out perfect. And sometimes with some tweaks here and there, you can make your outfits look fabulous.
Fitting clothing that shows your shape makes your clothes look expensive. Adding a couple of simple embellishments or removing some of the parts that are not necessaries could make the biggest change in your outfits.
Keep your makeup and nails neutral
Aside from dressing well, accessorizing and proper carriage, neutral makeup and nails can make you look expensive. You may think that it may not make much of a difference, but that’s not true. Your makeup and nails all have a role they play in your final look.
What do you think of these style tips? Do you have any tested and tried tip of making your clothes look expensive?
Yes I totally agree, I rarely buy expensive clothes. I’m a big advocate of accessorises.
