The green colour with gold-embroidered florals makes this dress stand out. It is an unusual colour combination, and I love that about it. The lavish tulle layering finishes off the dress in a beautiful way. I also like the fact that the dress is light and feels soft to touch. My daughter was very comfy wearing this dress which is great as I see her wearing a lot of it.

The handcrafted details – puffed cap sleeves and jewelled embellished velvet ribbon at the waist, with a concealed zip fastening give the dress a “wow” effect.

Top 6 Interior Design Trends for Winter

It’s just like yesterday when we were basking in the sun and enjoying the summer. Now winter is just round the corner and we’re starting to miss the warmth. If you’re like me, this is the time I give my home a facelift.

This winter, there are some popular trends in interior design that are worth giving a try. The good news is that it’s super easy to adopt these winter trends in your own home.

6 Commandments of Interior Design image

Here are top 6 interior design trends for winter.

  1. Warmer colours

Interior designers use the power of colours to change the overall mood of a room. This may seem like a very simple trick but it’s extremely effective. Colours have a way of introducing a new vibe in the room.

Summer is associated with warm colours. Incorporating such colours in your interior décor can give your home the needed cheery summery feel.

Opt for warmer tones like red, orange, and plum. A simple lick of paint with those warm tones can do wonders to your home. To switch things up a bit, you can get furniture or decorative items in those colours to give the room the needed warmth of summer.

  1. Floral details

Another interior design trend that promises to be a big hit this winter is floral details. Large floral prints in deeper shades are a favourite this season. Combining throw pillows and curtains with such patterns and shades preserves the summer vibe into your home despite the cold of winter.

  1. Metallic touch

Without a doubt there has been a predominance of metallic finishes in interior design this season and this winter will not be an exception. The metallic touch gives your home a modern feel. But to incorporate the warmth that is predominant in this season’s interior designs you can add metals of gold, bronze and rose gold tones. Such metals can be seen on decorative items.

  1. Luxurious velvet

It’s interesting to know how far velvet has come in being one of the most desired fabrics in interior décor. Often associated with wealth, class and luxury, velvet is one trend that you’ll see this winter.

Aside from its luxurious air, velvet gives the impression of warmth and coziness that is deeply desired during the winter months. Adding some velvet to your room will usher in that strong presence of warmth. You can incorporate velvet in so many ways like having a couple of velvet cushions or furniture with velvet upholstery.

  1. Mix of texture

This winter there a mix of textures that will be the order of the day in interior décor. A variety of textures like embroidery, knits and tassels will show up in cushions, curtains and carpets, while intricate wooden designs will feature in home accessories.  This mash of textures will create that cozy feel perfect for the winter. To create this vibe, play around with textures.

  1. Crystalline appeal

With winter comes a gloom but that doesn’t mean that your home should be that way. Hence, this winter there’ll be a lot of glass and crystalline items in interior designs. The glass brings the light that will brighten your home and give it cheer as well as keep it very modern.

You can incorporate glass and crystal pieces to your home with hand-blown glass lampshades and other glass fittings and accessories.
