I recently started meditation regularly and I have started to reap the amazing benefits. Many people wonder what mediation is about and what makes it so special. Let me tell you a bit about the power of meditation.
What is Meditation?
Check out this amazing definition I found on Yogapedia.com
Meditation is the process of quieting the mind in order to spend time in thought for relaxation or religious/spiritual purposes. The goal is to attain an inner state of awareness and intensify personal and spiritual growth. In practice, meditation involves concentrated focus on something such as a sound, image or feeling.
The simple way to describe mediation is a process of silencing the subconscious mind. It works by stilling the mind and body so that it becomes more receptive to a positive lifestyle. At first I struggled to keep up with meditating on a daily basis. It was hard for me to find a few minutes here and there everyday and I just kept procrastinating. However, I got myself to start meditating everyday somehow and I now I do it easily.
How I Meditate
Mediation has completely changed my life. I am more in tune with my body and mental health. It has changed everything about my life and how I deal with all that life brings. I can’t imagine not meditating now. I started off mediating for 10 minutes twice a day with a timer and now I meditate for 15 minutes twice a day. Before I start my mediation, I make sure I am sitting comfortably and wearing loose clothing. I also make sure I am alone and my phone is on silent mode so I don’t get distracted.
I would advise everyone to mediate if they don’t already. The benefits are too numerous to mention. Your mind and body will thank you for it. You can start with an app if you are new to meditating. I started with Headspace months ago after trying a couple of meditating apps I didn’t really get. However, I don’t use any app now. I just get on with it using a timer on my iPhone and it works great for me. Now that I am so into meditating, I wonder how I coped all these years without it. It is so important in my daily routine now.
Do you meditate? Have you experienced the power of meditation? What is your regular mediating session like? Please share your views in the comments section below. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week ahead.
I have read many articles about the benefits of doing meditation but somehow I have not gotten to trying it myself. The only issue or obstacle I know that I would encounter is finding a quiet place at home and a quiet time too!
It is tricky for me too but I find the quiet time before the house wakes and when everyone else is in bed at night.
Great post! i completely agree with you. meditation is a very important part of ones life & it can also help yo feel energized too 🙂
Yes it is so important.
Yes! It has been part of my life for many years being in a 12 step program and living a spiritual life. The last 18 months since my husband unexpectedly passed away I have been led to developing my spiritual life intensely. It has certainly helped me not tip over the edge with grief.
Whilst my children are grown, living there own lives I have 1 still at home, a busy life and also look after my grandson on a weekly basis one to two days.
I need all the peace I can get. You Tube is my main place as there are 1000s on there. It has opened me up to other schools of spiritual thought and speakers as well as guiding me to guided meditations too. I have also found some for power naps which are excellent.
I put it on when I wake, at night for sleep and when I need during the day. I usually have spiritual speakers in non duality/philosophers/Christian mystic speakers on. Its kept me somewhat sane
I’m glad your doing it too. The benefits are immense
Yes the benefits are numerous. I am loving it so much. Good to know it is working great for you too!
I have always loved the idea of meditating but making it part of my life has been difficult.. The only time i can be alone and meditate is only when am by the waterside or hilltop but doing it at home has always been difficult, a lot of distraction and when i manage to do it once it takes forever to be have an opportunity to do it at at home.
I know it can be tricky to find the quiet time. I struggled initially too.
I also often have this problem, but recently tried actually focusing on each sound and found it to have a good (but perhaps different) meditative effect.
I’ve heard a lot about meditating and how people silence their subconscious mind, I personally don’t find it amusing. I really can’t imagine that utter silence. Naaaa sis. Not for me.
#that utter silence in my head. If I’m meditating, it’s on something like the word of God, like the things that are wrong in the world, like how to get things done better but to just switch off completely— nope.
If it is not for you then it isn’t. Things work for us great and not so great for others so I get it.
I have never gotten into meditating but I’ve heard really good things about it but I just don’t think I have the patience to try it out properly!
It can be hard to find the time to get into it in this busy world of ours.
I meditate and don’t realize I’m doing so as I don’t make a conscious effort to do so. Helps to clear my mind and just be rid of negative thoughts.
Good you find time to meditate.
My only mediation time is when I pray. I focus to God and no one else. Giving him all the glory back and thanking Him in all of the blessings makes me feel peaceful.
Good you find quiet time for prayer. Very important.
My sister meditate daily it helps her reduce the anxiety and anxious feelings which can get bad I have too many distractions I can’t focus
It can be hard to focus. I can relate.
Meditation is something that I practicr and it really helps me calm down and tune out all the negative things that usually bother me. This article is very necessary
Glad you enjoyed reading the article.
I really really did
Yes regular meditation is a life changer especially reconnecting with the Inner guide/ inner child / over-soul .
Nice blog!
Thank you.
Love meditation! Nice to hear that you’ve enjoyed and benefitted from it too!
Yes. It is amazing.
So important ! I recently just posted an article on mediation aswell if you wanted to have a read 🙂
🙂 great job !
Yes it is so important. Thanks.
You have to make time for meditation and create a plan for what you intend to do during that time. I’ve used it to focus on gratitude and commitments and pray about my day. It has become so rewarding!
Yes it is super rewarding.

My first encounter with meditation did not follow the traditional norm. Yes it came to me in the quiet but nothing like I would have expected. You can read my experience here on the Power of Heart & Soul website:
I will have a read. Thanks.
Absolutely agree. Actually, meditation has changed my life. I am more at ease with myself and don’t spend time for irrelevant things. What is your meditation routine?
I mediate twice a day – morning and evening. It has changed my life.
That’s good to hear 🙂
Sitting still and trying to listen as many noises as possible and also focusing on the third eye area.
Oh good 😊
