This year has been a rollercoaster for all of us. It has been up and down pretty much from January and the chaos is just getting louder and louder. Many people are struggling and I can literally feel the tension in the air. It is important to stay on top of our mental and physical health. This is not the time to bury our heads in the sand. Staying sane in the midst of chaos takes a lot of willpower and determination. You have to be ready to fight for your peace or else everyone else will drag you into their drama.
Staying sane in the midst of chaos
Here are some ways to help you stay sane in the midst of the madness going on –
Limit your time on social media
I have to spend some time on social media because of my job but these days, I limit the time I spend on the platforms. Social media is a huge drain right now, especially Twitter. There are all sorts of things going on at the same time all over the world. It is exhausting to be online nowadays.
Switch off the news
I don’t watch the news and haven’t done so for years. If you watch the news and you find that you are struggling, I would say you should take some days off and see how you feel. I usually pick up important info on social media and that is good enough for me.
Listen to soothing music
Music is like food to my soul. I am forever listening to my Spotify playlists. My current favourite tracks are Enya’s. I love her voice and style so much.
Workout
I start my day with a good 30-minute workout session. It prepares me for the day ahead and keeps me feeling great. I would be lost without my workout sessions.
Do something for you every day
With everything going, it is super easy to put ourselves last and be busy worrying about everything and everyone. It is important to do something nice for yourself on a daily basis. It could be something as small as reading a book, watching a nice movie, going for a long walk, or as big as buying that new handbag you have had your eyes on for months now. The choice is yours. It doesn’t matter what it is, the important thing is that it is something that feels like a treat.
Great points Stella. Self care is so important at the best of times. Even more so now. I have to take great care as I have mental heath issues granted more managed today than they manage me. Selfcare is so important.
Like you I don’t have the news on, on TV. I do check it on the news app once or twice a day and have a quality media paper on my phone. I cant bear listening to it. I can choose what to read which works for me
Yes, it works for me too! I like being able to choose and not being told what to read or watch. I am an outlaw to the core 😊
I’ve literally just decided to take some time off social media for the same reasons as stated in your post. Great post
Thank you!
