Nickelodeon Land Blackpool Experience

It’s summertime, but the weather isn’t as delightful as it was this time last year. There is a slight chill in the air on and off, and it has made dressing up very confusing. I never know what to wear these days. Not certain how the weather would look like. One minute it is warm and sunny, and we have our summer clothes on. The next minute it is cloudy and chilly, and we have our winter jackets back on. We have had all sorts of seasons in a day. Hard to keep up but hey it is June, so it should get better right?

Nickelodeon Land Blackpool Experience

We spent the half term week in Blackpool and had the lovely opportunity to visit the Nickelodeon Land Park and Pleasure Beach. It was a lot of fun. The kids had an amazing time and so did we the grown ups, as you can see from the pictures. We enjoyed ourselves a little too much. We went on so many rides, we lost count of how many we went on. There was a lot of screaming and laughing. It was fun to just unwind and enjoy the thrill. Some of the rides were really crazy but in a fun way.

We booked our day at the park online and had the tickets delivered to our house before the half term week, so we beat the long lines. It was amazing to just breeze in because the lines were really long. So I would advise you booked your tickets in advance online and have them delivered to your house at least a week before the day you plan to visit the park.

The Amazing Rides

The rides at Nickelodeon Land park were really good. The experience was definitely a lot adrenaline rush. The Avalanche and the Blue Flyer rides were really cool. There were a lot of screams (good ones) on those rides. We also enjoyed the show featuring SpongeBob SquarePants, Skye and Ninja Turtles. It was fun watching them dance and entertain the kids. The kiddies even got a photo taken with Skye and they were really excited about that. My daughter adores Skye.

If you haven’t visited Nickelodeon Land park in Blackpool and you have little ones, I suggest you pop over for a visit. The huge park is truly magical and there is so much to see and do. We spent the whole day there and still couldn’t get on all the rides. They were just too many. It was definitely worth every penny.

Instagram Heaven

We took so many pictures on the day so excuse the photo heavy post. I just couldn’t help myself but post every one of them. The park is really pretty; definitely an instagram dream. I will be posting a part 2 of our time at Nickelodeon Land Park soon  so you get to see all the photos. I am unable to fit them all in this post.  I will also be sharing some tips on how to make the most of your time at the park and things to prepare for while you are there, so lookout for that post.

Have you been to Nickelodeon Land Blackpool? What do you think of it? I also wrote about our stay at the Hampton by Hilton Hotel in Blackpool. Until the next post, have a lovely time.

Our stay at Hampton by Hilton Blackpool

We just got back from our holiday. We spent our half term week in Blackpool and it was a lot of fun. It was our first time visiting Blackpool. We have heard a lot about the lovely place and have been dying to visit. It took us a little over an hour to get to Blackpool from Cheshire, and we enjoyed the short road trip. We have stayed in Hilton Hotels before, it is usually our preferred hotel chain so we kind of knew what to expect with Hampton by Hilton Blackpool.

Check in and first impression

We got to the hotel for 3pm, which is peak time for check ins, so we had a short delay. There were 2 people at the check in desk so it took a bit to get the check in done. When we finally got the room keys, we headed to our room. We were on the first floor, so we didn’t have to go to far up, which was great.

What we liked

We got a room on the first floor with a great view. The view was amazing and we enjoyed it. I really liked the shower cubicle. It is a lot bigger than your average shower cubicle. We also liked the room size. There was plenty space for our luggage, shoes and all the extra baggage. It didn’t feel cramped like some other hotel rooms we have stayed in.

I also found a particular staff member extremely helpful. She was in the restaurant and she went above and beyond at dinner time and while we were having breakfast as well. I have forgotten her name now, but she made our stay very pleasant and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves for her amazing customer service.

What we didn’t like

We found the room quite dusty. My husband complained about this and asked for the room to be properly cleaned on the next day but this didn’t happen. The room was still very dusty especially the curtain area and my husband ended up with a cold thanks to the dust.

The room didn’t have a fridge and there was no room service. This made our stay very uncomfortable as we had to go down for everything. I like having a fridge when holidaying especially with the kids. There is always a snack or a drink left unfinished we may want to store in the fridge. Also, room service is a hotel essential for me, as we usually prefer eating our dinner in the room.

There were hardly any toiletries left in our room. The bath wash was never topped up, but thankfully we had ours with us. There was also no shower cap, which was a pain, and only 1 toilet roll was left for a family of 4 to share on our last day. The towels were not white, they were cream and I didn’t really like that.

We also found it a little tricky to find a parking space as Hampton by Hilton Blackpool parking space is really small. But we found a good spot in the end.

Overall, our stay was good. We enjoyed exploring Blackpool. I will be sharing a post on all what we got up to soon. We visited Pleasure Beach and Nickelodeon Park. So look out for my next travel blog post.

How to plan a great weekend trip with kids

We love travelling and creating memories as a family. Which is why we try to explore our surroundings as much as we can, and travel internationally at least twice a year. So vacations and a weekend trip is always on the radar. We are yet to go anywhere this year for many reasons. However, travel is still on the cards. We just need to get organised and get a holiday booked (we are usually so last minute on travel related plans for many other reasons but we are getting better).

London City Blog image

We have been on a few trips within the country this year. Our first trip was to Birmingham for 2 nights for new year. Then we visited Chelmsford Essex in February for a weekend away. And we spent the spring break in London and Essex. We were there for 2 weeks exploring the cities, and it was a lot of fun. I am kind of a mini guru when it comes to planning a weekend trip with kids. My twins are 5 years old, and we have been travelling around and outside the country since there were babies. So I kind of know what to do when it comes to comes travelling with children.

Here are some of my tried and tested tips –

Plan your trip well in advance

I am a very organised person, which is why I like planning our trips before we go. I always have a packing list so I don’t leave anything behind. There is also another list; I usually call this list the itinerary list. This itinerary list contains our plans for the actual trip. So places we plan to visit, prices for attractions, alternative attractions, travel routes, and so on. That way I know what to expect and I prepare myself and the kids for it. Planning in advance also allows me space out our activities so we are not too shattered. This preparation usually helps our trip go really smoothly.

Book child-friendly accommodation

When booking a hotel for our trips, we ensure we pick a child-friendly accommodation. So spacious rooms with beds for the kids is a must. A hotel with good internet connection, restaurant, room service and concierge to help with the luggage. I also like great customer service, which is why I make sure to check Trip Advisor’s website for reviews. That way we don’t get any nasty surprises.

Involve the kids

I make sure to get the kids involved in our trips. They know well in a advance where we are going and we plan to do there. I also get them involved in packing before the trip and activities while holidaying. I find that getting them involved gets them all excited and keeps them well behaved.

Have snacks and entertainment ready

I never leave the house for hours with the kids without snacks. Having snacks and some form of entertainment while out and about with children definitely helps. My crossbody bag comes in really handy for popping little snacks in, especially when we are on the move. They definitely make our trips go

Stick to the routine

We try to stick to our routine as much as possible when holidaying. Sometimes it is not possible at all to do so, but we try our best. Routines are so important with young children, and they help them behave better. Which is why we try to stick to ours when on holiday. Children thrive on a routine, so it is important to implement this even when on vacation.
