Nickelodeon Land Blackpool Experience

It’s summertime, but the weather isn’t as delightful as it was this time last year. There is a slight chill in the air on and off, and it has made dressing up very confusing. I never know what to wear these days. Not certain how the weather would look like. One minute it is warm and sunny, and we have our summer clothes on. The next minute it is cloudy and chilly, and we have our winter jackets back on. We have had all sorts of seasons in a day. Hard to keep up but hey it is June, so it should get better right?

Nickelodeon Land Blackpool Experience

We spent the half term week in Blackpool and had the lovely opportunity to visit the Nickelodeon Land Park and Pleasure Beach. It was a lot of fun. The kids had an amazing time and so did we the grown ups, as you can see from the pictures. We enjoyed ourselves a little too much. We went on so many rides, we lost count of how many we went on. There was a lot of screaming and laughing. It was fun to just unwind and enjoy the thrill. Some of the rides were really crazy but in a fun way.

We booked our day at the park online and had the tickets delivered to our house before the half term week, so we beat the long lines. It was amazing to just breeze in because the lines were really long. So I would advise you booked your tickets in advance online and have them delivered to your house at least a week before the day you plan to visit the park.

The Amazing Rides

The rides at Nickelodeon Land park were really good. The experience was definitely a lot adrenaline rush. The Avalanche and the Blue Flyer rides were really cool. There were a lot of screams (good ones) on those rides. We also enjoyed the show featuring SpongeBob SquarePants, Skye and Ninja Turtles. It was fun watching them dance and entertain the kids. The kiddies even got a photo taken with Skye and they were really excited about that. My daughter adores Skye.

If you haven’t visited Nickelodeon Land park in Blackpool and you have little ones, I suggest you pop over for a visit. The huge park is truly magical and there is so much to see and do. We spent the whole day there and still couldn’t get on all the rides. They were just too many. It was definitely worth every penny.

Instagram Heaven

We took so many pictures on the day so excuse the photo heavy post. I just couldn’t help myself but post every one of them. The park is really pretty; definitely an instagram dream. I will be posting a part 2 of our time at Nickelodeon Land Park soon  so you get to see all the photos. I am unable to fit them all in this post.  I will also be sharing some tips on how to make the most of your time at the park and things to prepare for while you are there, so lookout for that post.

Have you been to Nickelodeon Land Blackpool? What do you think of it? I also wrote about our stay at the Hampton by Hilton Hotel in Blackpool. Until the next post, have a lovely time.

Play-Doh Fun with the Kiddies

Half term is over and the kiddies went back to school yesterday. It was a very busy half term week with us making the most of the lovely sunshine. We spent plenty of time outdoors with the twins riding their bikes and scooters. We also visited a soft play centre and our local playground. The kids enjoy being outside, especially my son. He could spend the whole day outside if I let him. My daughter on the other hand loves the outdoors but would be happy to stay indoors all day if I wanted too.

I enjoyed the time outdoors myself and I am seriously missing them now that they have resumed school. Always good to make the most of the holidays when they come. Are you in the UK? How was your half term week?

The kiddies also spent time playing with their new Play-Doh Kitchen Creations Set. They enjoyed making donuts and all sorts of Play-Doh food. It was fun to watch them in their element, it never gets old.

They made a proper mess of the floor but it was worth it. They played with the set for almost 2 hours. I was amazed at how much attention and determination they put into creating Play-Doh creations. Normally, they play with a new toy for a few minutes (an hour tops if it is a great toy) for the first time, before tossing it away for something else, but this was different. I am not too surprised because I know how much they love playing with Play-Doh, but I think their love for the brand has increased since they started primary school.

They play with Play-Doh a lot at school as it helps with the pencil grip. My 5-year-old son previously had issues with that like many boys his age do, but he has now improved massively. His handwriting is also a lot better now which is amazing.

Are your kids fans of Play-Doh? Have they tried the Kitchen Creations Set?

What to do with the kids for half term when you don’t drive

Half term is here and at last, and we are excited to get a break from school. The kids have had a good few weeks at school, but have been very tired as well. So this half term break is needed. Although I have my car, I currently don’t drive (can’t drive on my own) because I am yet to pass my driving practical test. The plan is to get that sorted in the next few months. I am currently taking 2 hours driving lessons every week, and I am also driving outside those hours, so my confidence is growing. The lessons are going really well. I am looking forward to smashing the driving test but the reality for now is cabs/trains to get out and about when alone.

Many parents secretly dread half term weeks and the big summer break because they never know what to do with the kids. So the privileged amongst us always make sure we have all sorts of activities planned so the kids don’t drive them mad.

No plans this half term?

Well, this half term, we have no major plans. And with me not being able to drive without M (he will be at work), it means our activities are quite limited. I am dreading the half term week and the kids are not bothered they won’t be going away. It is the fact so being bothered won’t change it anyway. But I need to think outside the box in order to keep the twins busy.

Last half term in October, we spent it in Portugal, and we had a lovely time exploring the city of Algarves. This half term we were tempted to go for a short break in a different city in the UK, but decided not to for many reasons. So this half term will be spent at home with us relaxing and taking it easy activities wise.

Here are some fun things we plan to do this half term –

Go for walks

The weather has been good here in Cheshire for the last couple of days, and I hope it continues to be good. We have long walks planned in for the half term break. We will put on comfy shoes and coats, and head out exploring our little village. The kiddies love going for walks, especially my son, so we will be doing a lot of that. We will also be getting out the bikes and scooters for some fun rides.

Swimming

The kiddies have swimming lessons planned out. They are learning to swim and developing the skills they need, so we will be have more of the lessons this half term week. The swimming centre is not too far away, so a short taxi or bus ride would work.

Indoor play

There will be a lot of Indoor play this half term. The kids never really have the time to play with their toys as they are very tired after school and homework. So they will be making the most of the free time they have this week, which will hopefully allow me get some peace and quiet.

Meet-up with friends

It is always nice spending quality time with friends and family. We will be meeting up with friends during the week, and playing catch up over a cup of tea. It should be fun.

Working on their new skills

My children are now free readers. They are reading and writing amazingly well for the age, and they enjoy practising. Which is why they are always happy to pick up a book from their bookshelves to read. You can also easily find them colouring in their colouring books, playing with some play-doh, or writing on their writing pads. I know a good couple of hours will be spent doing these activities this week.

Outdoor play

We are blessed to live in a great neighbourhood with 2 playgrounds very close to us. We will be visiting both playgrounds for some outdoor fun this week. I know the kids would spend hours doing this if I left them. I am hoping I won’t have to drag them home when it is home time.

Soft play

The kiddies love soft play centres, so we will be visiting a couple this half term week. They never get tired of running around the centre and I can have some peace (hopefully) watching them from a distance. We have some soft play centres not too far away from us.

If you don’t drive, what plans do you have for the kids this half term? If you do drive, please share your plans in the comments section as well.

Thanks for reading. Have a great week.
