We Explored LEGOLAND Windsor

During the summer holidays, we had the lovely opportunity to visit LEGOLAND Windsor. We have been looking forward to visiting the theme park for years now. The kiddies love LEGOLAND Discovery Centre in Manchester, and we have visited that park many times now. So we thought visiting the bigger version of the theme park in Windsor would be a fantastic idea. We spent 3 nights in Windsor, we stayed at the Hilton Hotel not too faraway from the park, and we explored the gigantic theme park in 2 days, but we didn’t get to go on all the rides because there were just too many!

There are so many rides in LEGOLAND Windsor. We got on about half of them in 2 days because we just couldn’t fit them all in. It is definitely a great place to visit with the family with so much to see and do. I will list what we liked about the parks the most, and what we didn’t really like about it.

What we liked

Here are some of the things we really liked at LEGOLAND Windsor –

Quick entry to the parks

There were no long queues at the gate. We were quickly ushered into the park within minutes of being on the line, and that was so good. There were more than enough staff at the gate and that made the entry lines go quicker.

The amazing rides

The rides were really cool! We all had an amazing time exploring all the rides we were able to get on in 2 days. Some of our favourites are DUPLO Train, L-Drivers, Haunted House Monster Party Ride, Hill Train, Apocalypseburg and more. My personal favourite is the Haunted House Monster Party Ride. It is a new ride for 2019 and it is so cool! I loved it!

The live shows

We enjoyed watching the live shows while we rested our legs and grabbed a quick lunch. My daughter really liked watching the girls sing and dance at the Heartlake Harbour Arena at the Heartlake City section. She is a huge fan of LEGO Friends series, and knows all their names. It was a fun show and I would recommend you catch one while at the park.

The souvenir shop

I loved the souvenir shops around the park. They were couple and we shopped in 2 different ones. They had lots of great souvenir gifts and we got a few for the kids. They are quite pricey as expected but we got some of them at a discounted price. They are little things to cherish and remind us of our time at LEGOLAND Windsor. If you are after grabbing a few souvenirs, you don’t have to worry. There are loads available in here.

Dining options

There are lots of spots to eat and drink. I counted many restaurants and cafes so you don’t have to look too long to find where to dine.

Clean toilets

The toilets were reasonably clean. We never had to use a dirty toilet in the 2 days that we visited in the summer, and it was a busy time, so I think the cleaners did an excellent job staying on top of the cleaning.

What we didn’t like

Now that I have mentioned all what we liked about LEGOLAND Windsor, let’s talk about what we didn’t like –

The long queues

The long queues were so frustrating. I won’t be going back without a fast track ticket because the queues were just way too long. Sometimes, we had to wait for an hour to get on some popular rides. Those wasted hours we spent waiting in line would have been spent on other rides if we had the fast track ticket. The fast track tickets do cost a bit more but they are worth it especially if you are going when it is incredibly busy like during school holidays.

The overpriced food

We bought lunch in the chips store on our first day and it was a terrible mistake. The food was heavily overpriced; a kids happy meal was about twice the amount and the taste was not so good. We didn’t like the food at all and felt it was a rip off. Also, the staff at the chips store were not efficient. They acted like they didn’t really want to be there and that resulted in many complaints. The next day, we made sure to come ready with our food, snacks and drinks.

The traffic leaving the car park

On both days, we spent well over 30 minutes in traffic trying to get out of the park. It was super annoying as we were already knackered from exploring the theme park, the last thing we needed was traffic.

The expensive car park

The car park was expensive. We paid about £5 per day for the parking and I felt that was too much. Guests should be given free parking after buying the expensive tickets to get into the theme parks. Also, no one checked our car park ticket on the 2 days we visited the park, and I found that slightly annoying.

The staff at the entry gate

The staff at the entry gate were quick as I mentioned before but they didn’t pay as much attention to us as I would have liked. I had to ask for the maps on both days even though they had the pile just by them. A little more attention would have been amazing.

LEGOLAND Windsor Top Tips

With what we liked and didn’t like out of the way, here are some top tips you may find useful when visiting LEGOLAND Windsor-

Go early

We always made sure we got that first thing morning. It is usually a lot quieter than mid day, and we get to experience some of the rides without the long queues.

Bring you food along

If you don’t want to spend money on overpriced food and drinks, make sure you bring yours along to the park. You will save loads that way.

Explore the park from the back to the front

This is a tip I wish I was told on day 1 but better late than never right? Walk all the way to the end of the park when you come in, and get on the rides from the back to the front. That way you get to beat the queues.
