Beauty Muse: Elizabeth Taylor

Hey Beauty Lovers! It is a new week and I am loving the amazing sunny weather we are currently experiencing. The first post of this week is all about the Beauty Muse of the month. The beautiful icon – Elizabeth Taylor is the Beauty Muse for the month of September. I have always admired this woman. She was one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. Her beauty was on a whole different level with the amazing facial features and stunning hair. Elizabeth Taylor is definitely a beauty muse all day, everyday. Do you agree?

Beauty Muse: Elizabeth Taylor

One of the things I really loved about Elizabeth Taylor is that she aged beautifully and naturally, which was a lovely sight to behold, in comparison with some other celebrities who have tried to fight Mother Nature.

Here are some Elizabeth Taylor’s best kept beauty secrets:

She did her own makeup

I found it very interesting to discover that Elizabeth Taylor applied her own makeup on and off screen. Her makeup always looked lovely so she must have been very talented.

“When I was younger, for a long time I didn’t wear any make-up in films; when I did start to wear make-up, I always did it myself,” she once said.

Elizabeth Taylor didn’t like conditioners

This beauty muse did not like conditioners. She felt conditioners made her hair too sleek and she preferred the bouncy look. Thankfully, with the advancement in haircare products, there are so many options for hair conditioners, ladies with bouncy hair don’t have to worry about dealing with a too sleek look.

This Beauty Muse loved drugstore brands

Elizabeth Taylor loved affordable skincare brands. Her favourite was Jergens and she used the lotion religiously.

Beauty Muse: Diana Ross

The stunning and talented American singer – Diana Ross is the Beauty Muse this August. I remember listening to Diana Ross while growing up. Her voice is beautiful and I love many of her songs. The Endless Love duet with Lionel Richie is one of my favourites. This beauty muse is a bundle of beauty and brains, and I am a huge fan.

Whenever I think of Diana Ross, I picture the big curly black hair, stunning dark eyes and shimmering dress. She always looks glamorous, I wonder how she does it. I have never seen her photographed looking ordinary. This beauty muse slays all day, every day.

I have always wanted to know the beauty secrets behind this gorgeous woman, so I was happy to find an interview Ross had with Vogue.com. In the interview, she shared some beauty secrets. Here is an excerpt from Vogue interview:

Are there any beauty products you never leave the house without?
My “quick makeups” are jumbo eye pencils, really black black pencils, and mascara, maybe blusher and a light lip gloss, something nice for the day. If I’m just running to the market, I don’t do the makeup at all. I just put on some big dark glasses! I have a real life: I’m a mother and grandmother and auntie first before I am a celebrity. But, special occasions require something special, [like] playful, outrageous makeup.

The really black eye pencils make her beautiful pop even more. They suit her. I like my eye pencils really dark as well. Eye pencils in other colours never really stand out for me. I also love the dark glasses tip, I do that too especially now that the weather is warm and sunny.

Beauty Muse: Jourdan Dunn

The gorgeous British model – Jourdan Dunn is the Beauty Muse this month. I have been a huge fan of Jourdan Dunn for many years now and I think she is a talented beauty. Her skincare routine and beauty tips always interest me because she has a flawless skin and looks amazing. I found an interview this beauty muse had with Glamour UK, where she shared her skincare routine with the team. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

On making her own rose water and face mask

“I actually make my own mixture of rose water, witchhazel and aloe vera, this is to hydrate my skin. Then, twice a week, I’ll make my own face mask at home,” she says. “I’ll mix up yoghurt, honey and a few teaspoons of turmeric – it’s my favourite spice as it’s anti-inflammatory and great for acne, dull skin and tired eyes. Do it on a night in and double cleanse afterwards, as it can stain!”

I love the sound of her homemade rose water and face mask. The ingredients are easy to get, so I may play around with them and see if I can create my own rose water and face mask. Dunn has a gorgeous skin, so the products must be good. Do you make your own skincare products?

Her thoughts on Korean skincare products

“K-Beauty is everywhere now! I love that it’s spread to the UK over the past year. I love the face masks, there’s so many different ones using natural ingredients like Ginseng and Aloe Vera with the aim of moisturising, hydration, toning! The list is endless.”

I have used a few Korean skincare products and my experience was good with all of them. The Korean face masks also work great on my skin. I love them. Have you tried Korean skincare products?
