Frugal Fashionista: Save Money on Clothes This Summer

Summer fashion is a lot of fun, unlike during the colder months you can pretty much wear what you want and don’t need to worry about covering up to keep warm. The dresses, sandals, skirts and shorts all come back out, and you can enjoy bright colours and bold patterns that perhaps don’t work as well during the other seasons. However buying new clothes every season can be expensive, thankfully there are ways you can save money and still look a million dollars.

Buy Versatile Staples

If you buy versatile items that can be dressed up and dressed down, you’ll find that you always have something to wear. Whether you need something to wear at a wedding, a christening, your friend’s barbeque or date night with your partner, you’ll be able to adapt your outfits and feel like you have something unique to wear without having to buy lots of items.

Simple summer dresses work well here, team up with a blazer and heels for a smart summer evening look, and with sandals and a kimono for a casual daytime outfit. If you choose well, you can even wear some of these dresses into the autumn too, simply pair up with tights, boots and a cute leather jacket.

If you know you have lots of occasions coming up and don’t have the budget to be able to afford lots of new outfits then this is a great way round it. Purchase some inexpensive accessories to customise each look, for example some statement jewellery for evening, a couple of hats and some sunglasses for practical daytime accessories.

Check Out Charity Shopsr

If you’ve always turned your nose up to the idea of charity shops then it’s time to think again. Not only can you snag yourself some amazing items at bargain prices, but the money from everything you buy will be put to a good cause.

Sure, you probably won’t be able to find your whole summer wardrobe in here but they’re well worth taking a peek in every now and again. Chances are at some point you’ll find a fantastic item for far less than you’d pay full RRP. Often charity shop clothes are nearly new or have only ever been worn a few times, sometimes you can even find brand new things in there.

Host a Swap Party

All of us have clothes in our wardrobe that we don’t really wear. Perhaps they were impulse buys or maybe we didn’t try them on in store and when we got home realised they didn’t look good. For some reason or another maybe we didn’t get around to taking them back and they’ve sat collecting dust ever since.

Lots of us hold onto clothes with the intention of losing weight and wearing them again one day, or in the hopes that they’ll come back into style. Instead of them sitting around taking up space, why don’t you and your friends all grab the items you don’t wear and host a swap party? You can all have fun trying on different things, and you each might find a couple of pieces from the other’s closets that work far better on you.

Underwear Ready with MAGIC Bodyfashion

Summer is officially almost here and it seems like everyone is getting ready. The weather has been nice and sunny in Cheshire for weeks now. It feels too good to be true. Spring is usually all about rain and more rain. But it is so different this year. It feels like we have skipped spring completely and gone on to summer. I hope this amazing weather continues, but something tells me it may be changing a bit soon. Guess we will have to make the most of the great weather we are currently enjoying and hope it stays on.

I like to wear dresses and skirts a lot in the spring/summer months. I find them more comfortable. Which is why my spring/summer wardrobe is filled with those sort of pieces. I have been thinking of ways to get fashion ready for summer, and the first thing I have done is to sort out the underwear department. Here a few pieces I have got from MAGIC Bodyfashion

MAGIC Bodyfashion Lite Dress £42.50

Lite Dress Underwear Image

The first addition to my underwear collection is this MAGIC Lite Dress. This dress is made of ultra sheer material, that creates perfect shaping to the entire upper body and legs. The Lite Dress has laser cut edges and a silicone trim inside the bottom opening which prevents the dress from rolling up.

It comes in 2 colours – black and latte. Sizes start from small and go up to XXL I have worn this Lite Dress underneath a few dresses and I love the shaping it creates. It is also light and very comfortable to wear.

MAGIC Bodyfashion Low Back Body £32.50

This Magic Bodyfashion Low Back Body is a backless, seamless and shaping thong-bodybriefer with a very low back. You can wear this piece with or without a bra, thanks to the great support underneath the breasts. It is made from a soft, breathable and comfortable fabric, that is completely invisible underneath an outfit.

I have worn this MAGIC Bodyfashion Low Back Body a few times underneath dresses and tops that have an extremely low back. It provides great support underneath and it is super comfortable. I found it very easy to put on and take off. At £32.50, it is definitely good value for money.

This piece comes in 2 colours – black and latte. The sizes available start from small and go all the way to XXL.

I think these pieces would make great summer solutions for underwear. What do you think?

7 Tricks for Revamping Your Personal Style on a Budget

Does the new year mean a new you? Changing your personal style is great fun as well as a good boost for the self-confidence. However, what can you do if a new pay raise has yet to arrive?

There are quite a few simple tricks you can use to revamp your style on a budget. Their applications will differ depending on the type of style you want to have. But the ideas are sure to provide inspiration.

How to Revamp Your Style on a Budget
1.     Customize your current wardrobe

In the majority of cases, a girl’s wardrobe is full of clothes she hardly ever wears. You can put them to use now that you are looking for new ways of self-expression. Look up some guides on how to customize clothing by hand or employ a professional to help you. In either case, the overall cost will be much lower than buying brand-new items.

2.     Launch a clothes swap campaign

Remember that clothes you aren’t wearing? If you can’t turn it into something new you’d love, swap it for something else. You can start with talking to your family and friends as they are bound to have similar issues. In case your styles don’t align at all, you can find ‘swapping’ opportunities online.

3.     Accessorize on a budget

Today you can easily find exquisite accessories at very affordable prices. Go for originality to compensate for the lack of precious gems. For example, the Moonglow Classic Necklace with black Swarovski crystal in pewter will look stunning with a variety of party outfits. Buying affordable accessories is the new chic. Even Kate Middleton does this.

4.     Dive into the depth of eBay and Etsy

To revamp your style on a budget you need to not only get the best bargains, but also the most stylish outfits and accessories. EBay and Etsy offer both, especially if you take your time truly surfing through them. The tricky thing is that you need to have a rather solid idea of what you are looking for beforehand. Otherwise, you will get swamped with thousands of available offers. Thus, start with finding inspiration and outlining your new style.

5.     Get your own signature

Every truly outstanding celebrity has something unique that sets them apart from the rest. Marilyn Monroe had her bleached hair and the mole, Gwen Stefani has a love for red lipstick and penchant for overlooking limitations of formal styles. As you can see, neither of these are things that require a major investment, yet they are marks of a unique style. This means that you don’t have to completely replace your wardrobe in order to create a new way of presenting yourself to the world. Instead, focus on details that will show off the new ‘true you’.

6.     If buying new, go for classics

This might seem counterproductive as the point is revamping your style. However, practicality should win when your budget is limited. You can personalize the outfits with accessories as well as by mixing and matching classic clothes with a few original statement pieces. By investing in classic designs, such as an LBD (Little Black Dress), pencil skirt, white button-down blouse, etc., you ensure that revamping your looks in the future will become cheaper and easier.

7.     Get some extra money

When you need to revamp your style on a budget, you shouldn’t forget that you can increase that budget without taking out the money from other needs. Instead, sell the clothes you aren’t using yourself and cannot customize. This might be a long shot and the payoff is hard to predict. However, this will allow you to both declutter and get at least some extra cash.

What do you think of these 7 tricks for revamping your personal style on a budget?
