How working from home has changed our wardrobes

I have been working from home for about 7 years now. So I am kind of used to having a work from home wardrobe for my week days. However, the world was pretty much thrown into working from home last year and so many workers had to adapt to the new way of life. Working from home has definitely changed our wardrobes. When you work from home, you want to look decent for video calls (if any) but comfortable at the same time. Ideally, you should be out of your pyjamas but that may not be the case for everyone. From my experience from working from home, your shopping habits usually changes dramatically. The pieces and accessories you would typically go for if you had to go outside of your home for work would not appeal to you when you are stuck at home working.

How working from home has changed our wardrobes

Here are 3 ways working from home has changed my wardrobe –

Shopping habits

Like I previously said, this is usually the first thing to change when you start working from home. You realise you don’t need to shop regularly and when you do go shopping, you go for pieces that would keep you comfy at home, but not necessarily glamorous. instead of straight black trousers for example, you may find yourself buying a pair of leggings or joggers.

Accessories take a back seat

I really can’t remember the last time I bought a bag or footwear but then again, I feel like I have loads already and these days I hardly have use for them. Working from home means no commuting so the bags and shoes don’t need to be upgraded.

You shop your closet

Working from home for many also gives them the opportunity to shop their closet. Apart from the fact that there is more time to get dressed which gives you time to dig into your wardrobe, you may also find that you have more confidence to mix and match pieces you may not dare wear to the office. This for me is a big plus. I get to wear all sorts these days in the privacy of my home.
