I love reading inspirational stories, they motivate me to aim high and keep chasing my dreams. They keep me going on those difficult days, when things are not going as planned. Iris Apfel’s story is so inspiring, the fact that this ageless style icon is still working in the fashion industry is unreal, her story keeps me going.

Iris Apfel, the 94-year-old flamboyant fashionista is the busiest campaign model for this spring season. She is even busier than Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid put together, and it is not looking like she is going to retire anytime soon. You would think a woman who has achieved so much in the fashion industry would be relaxing at her age, but not Iris Apfel. She is a very different kind of woman. She is a the definition of ACTIVE and she is not chilling for now.

“Oh my god, I love being busy, I think it keeps me alive. I’m probably the busiest person you ever heard of. I’m busy to the point of insanity.”

Iris Apfel is the new face of Blue Illusion, and she features in Blue Illusions’s Spring 2016 ad campaign (and accompanying video below), she also helped style the shoot and welcomed the photo crew inside her magnificent New York apartment:

“All of the accessories in the campaign were mine. I accessorized everything,” she tells PeopleStyle. “I have a very big collection. I’ve been collecting since I was 11 years old. I’m 94 now, so do the arithmetic. It’s a lot of stuff.”

Iris credits her love of fashion and accessories to her mother:

“My mother worshiped at the altar of the accessory and she taught me that they were extremely transformative. You could have one basic black dress and if you had a group of accessories and you had some creativity, you could make 20 outfits. Change them around. And I learned a lot from that.”

Which is one reasons why she fell in love with Blue Illusion’s designs:

“I thought they have a wonderful product and I’m always interested in clothes that are architectural and suitable for people of all ages,” she shares. “That’s something I really champion and I think they do a very good job on all those fronts.”

 

Iris Apfel is also working with Kate Spade for the second year in a row on a campaign, and various other fashion projects. Her career inspires me, I find her so intriguing. I can’t believe she is still working, and showing no signs of stopping at the age of 94 years. When majority of us would have stopped working 30 years ago.
