Calming Driving Nerves

For those of you who have been reading the blog for a good few years, you would know all about my struggle to pass my driving test. I have been taking driving lessons for almost 10 years on and off. I took my first driving test while I was pregnant with the kiddies and I failed that and just didn’t bother for about 5 years. Although, I took my driving theory test and passed it first time, I still had to to take it again last year because the last one had expired.

The Current Situation

I have recently started taking driving lessons again and I am currently enjoying them. I sacked the driving instructor I started with last year after 2 sessions. He was a screamer and he made me even more nervous so I got rid of him quickly. The new driving instructor I am using is a lot better. He is more patient and more thorough. I am learning many new driving skills at every lesson and I am happy with the way the lessons are currently going. The only issue I am still dealing with is my driving nerves.

Looking back, I have always been a nervous driver, and I became a lot worse after the accident we had a few years ago. I need to calm my driving nerves if I intend to pass my driving test. Being so nervous behind the wheel is not helping me at all, so I have starting looking at ways to help me deal with the nerves. Meditating and having some quiet time before I drive does help. Writing about it should help as well. I am hoping it does anyway, which is why you are reading this post.

Someone advised me to try some calming herbal medicine. I will be trying it in the next few days and will report back if it works. Driving my own car also outside of the lessons also help. I am usually a bit more relaxed when driving in my car with M.

Valentine’s Day Dining

*Collaborative post.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! Hope you are all having a lovely day celebrating the day of love wherever you are. I like to celebrate love everyday and not just on Valentine’s Day. But it is great to have a day dedicated to love. It has been a good day for us here. Had some quiet lunch with M at Gusto, which is one of my favourite Italian restaurants. The food was yummy and we had a great time. It is always good to take out time to spend with your spouse alone, and we enjoyed our date lunch.

Another part of Valentine’s Day I like is the love theme gifts. I love giving and receiving gifts. So Valentine’s Day is another excuse to do just that. Flowers, perfumes and chocolates are popular gifts on Valentine’s Day. I got my bouquet of flowers as well as other gifts and I love that about the day as well. Also, I am looking forward to putting my feet up and doing nothing dinner wise. M is on duty tonight in the Kitchen Warehouse and I am eager to see what he comes up with. There is nothing sweeter than when you get a well cooked home meal you didn’t make. Being catered to feels amazing after a very busy week with the kiddies.

My only job is to get the Kitchen Units organised so he can find what he needs to make a yummy dinner. He has some Hello Fresh recipes and ingredients we got the other day, and they look very tasty. I can’t wait.

My Obsession with Homes Under the Hammer

*Collaborative post.

I have an obsession with Homes Under the Hammer. It is one property show I love watching on BBC. I have been a fan of this show for many years now, Been loving it long before we became home owners. My obsession is so serious that I watch this show everyday and play catch up on BBC iPlayer when I miss it. I remember daydreaming about owning homes or at least a home to start with in the UK. It is amazing we now own our home, but building a property portfolio is still a dream. I hope to change that dream to a reality one day, and I know I can with hard work, planning and determination.

Why do I Like Homes Under the Hammer So Much

I think the show is brilliant. I love seeing deadbeat homes transform into luxurious houses. The whole auction and renovation process is very interesting. It is amazing to see how much a deadbeat house is worth and how much money and times goes into renovating it. Seeing the profit margins motivates me even more to get into the property business as soon as we can.

The fact that a house can be easily transformed with some tiles/carpets, blinds, beautiful decor, paint, lean to conservatory, French doors, and more is great. It makes me want to step up my DIY skills. I have seriously improved when it goes to DIY. Some months ago, I couldn’t even use a screwdriver properly when I had to change the batteries in the kiddies’ toys, but now I can. With things like this, it takes determination, and I am determined to be better at doing home improvements around the house.

Our plan is to paint some of the rooms in the next few months, and I am looking forward to getting my hands dirty. Most of the homeowners that appear on Homes Under the Hammer do a good portion of the home improvements themselves to save money, and I don’t blame them. In order to increase the profit margins, you have to be able to do some of the work.
